You act like this wasn't going to happen all along.

They have squeezed the employees at that company mulitple times and keep coming back for another bite......wanna know why?
There is a mexican company that is going to buy them out, move production or slash it and the fine folks in management at Hostess get another fat bonus and stock payment for doing what they intended to do all along......wring out every penny they can and then sell out.

If you worked for a company that cut your pay and took back your benefits every 3 years would you just bend over and take another fucking or say enough is enough?

"Union Boss" please that's just a term the right wing nuts use to try and put Union Labor in a bad light. The workers probably got fed up with the companies bullshit and voted to strike. I suppose you would rather see everyone making nonunion welfare wages at Walmart collecting food stamps than earning a decent wage and benefits and paying their fair share into society.

Maybe management, who were obviously incompetent, should not have given themselves obscene raises while heading for bankruptcy?

How much of that 4% could have been offset by the millions given to horribly inept managers?

I'd want to at least keep my job while I look for another as apposed to simple being unemployed.

When I first got to America I felt the need to try Twinkies - utterly disgusting. It's hard to believe anybody would eat anything tasting like that.

It's a shame so many people are losing thier jobs but if the product was better perhaps they wouldn't be in the same situation.

I`m shocked they didn`t blame it on Obamacare. I thought it was mandatory to blame Obama for failed businesses.

Based on the title I thought this thread was going to be NSFW.

It's all Bush's fault!
Yup.

4 years later, Union fcks Rejecting a deal & being told -Directly- that the company would fold...

And, yet, there are plenty of Igno-Fcks that're going back to Bush or "Bain".

Classic.

Enjoy your 2nd term: you've earned it.

As always, it's a bit more complex than just the unions or management's fault. If you really want to know, read this article that was in Fortune back in August.

http://management.fortune.cnn.com/2012/07/26/hostess-twinkies-bankrupt/

Debt and greed is at the heart of it along with non-Hostess issues that impacted it. The equity firms didn't want to keep pouring money into a company with declining revenues. The Teamsters have to consider much more than just 8,000 jobs at Hostess and any concessions might have ripple effects with other companies. Etc. etc.

News-Flash:

Hostess wasn't a charity.

It was a for profit company.

Figure that out, yet?

(For those that can't figure out how "Organized Labor" fucked this one up)

"Sun Capital privately expressed interest in acquiring Hostess earlier this year, but the bakery’s creditors chose for an alternate reorganization plan that ultimately failed. Following Friday’s liquidation, Sun reengaged by contacting Hostess advisor Perella Weinberg Partners. It also plans to contact the relevant labor unions."

So, Another Evil Cap-firm bailing out all those pooooooor union jobs...? I can only assume the union gets drop-kicked.

Oldie, this is another firm run by Evil Millionares, you know?

Oh, really? Let me spell it out for you.

The Union is going to get their ass kissed just long enough to seal this new deal.

Then, they'll get a dose of reality: go read the shit that's between the fine lines of the "Sun" deal.

No its those middle class union fuks standing in one spot for most of a day squirting creme into a sponge while taking home thousands of dollars a year. While they see their company loaded up with debt by an angelic savior and those hard working managers hanging on trying to steer this company ship through troubled waters with only salary doubling as their meager incentive. Union assholes.

As the Judge said, there's plenty of guilt to go around...

From a $750K salary going to $2.5M in a year to a Union that walked away from the table...& has their own culpability in the demise of this company.

Let's see where this goes.

I feel very bad about the 13000 jobs that were lost, and I'm not sure I'll be able to cope without my Twinkies....but I love that the company gave the union the bird and called their bluff on this.

Unions are like the horse and buggy...they have no place in modern America (a lot of good they did those 13000 Hostess Employees, right?). Times have changed...now days Unions do far more harm than good.
The company stole money from workers' pension plans over the last few years to pay for debts that the workers had nothing to do with (for instance, the inexplicably large salaries given to 6 incompetent CEOs). The workers have already conceded less pay and fewer benefits once in the past 10 years. The latest "deal" by the hedge fund partners would have put the workers on a poverty-level wage. Of course the workers told Hostess to fuck themselves. I would have too.

Workers will not see a dime back from the stolen pension funds if/when the liquidation occurs. The workers simply hastened what was coming in light of horrible management.

So will the union buy the assets of Hostess for pennies on the dollar and put everyone back to work with better wages and benefits? They should be able to turn it all around in a flash.
