Hey Chad, you might of noticed i edited some posts, just moved your pics around so they are all on the 1st page of the thread. GuyB put a feature on the homepage about this thread Cool
No worries, I appreciate the feature on the homepage. It feels good to get some press for all of the people that have supported the project and worked so hard to see it come to fruition. On another level, however, it makes me laugh to see it get under the skin of all of the brainwashed four stroke idiots out there that forgot how to use the clutch lever. Just kidding guys....

201 lbs is insane.. The 2013 KTM 125 is the same weight.

Chadillac, did you try different pipes/silencers? I'm in the market for buying a set for mine.

thats why I am going to get a PC silcencer to combine with my FMF gnarly pipe on my 2006 yz250. Best of both worlds in my opinion.

Interesting.

As we speak, I am trying to do the baby brother of this conversion. A KTM 150 engine in an aluminum CR 125 frame.

Anybody have any insight on this?

My fab skills are FAR BELOW that of the the Chad man.

I have also considered dropping the engine into a steel framed yz 125.

Biggest obstacle here is the Yamaha swingarm bolt is much bigger in diameter than the KTM

I like that you went with a KTM motor, In fact that CR125/ KTM150 combo would be the ultimate IMO.

Friggin nice! Needs a better-looking fender, though. Look up the "front fender theory" thread. Wink

I love the power of my KTM 150SX but wanted something that gives me a fighting chance against the 450 4 strokes.

I pulled the motor out of the 150 SX chassis and dropped a 200 SX engine in the 150 Chassis. That helps. I can now stay within two or three bike lengths on the start. Then I just pass em during the moto.

Now I am looking for a chassis to put my 150 engine in. The Honda or Yamaha are my choices.

Not sure what chassis will be the easiest.. Trying to figure it out. I guess the one that would be easiest to adapt.

Any suggestions?

The gen 4 chassis are more readily available on Ebay etc. than the gen 5 and some people like the handling of that chassis better as well.

Because the front fender on these gen 5 chassis have a step in them they do not interchange with previous years. I like the older front fender as well. At least its not as ugly as the new KTM "I Beam" front fenders, those things are just ridiculous!

Doesn't the ktm 300 jug bolt on to the 250sx motor? If you were able to push 53hp out of the 250sx motor I wonder what you could push out of 300 jug with some work and the sx ignition curve. I think this thread put me over the edge to pick up a new 250sx. I just can't stand the 450s anymore they suck the fun out my ride.

Yes the 300 kit will bolt on and it makes more HP but it looses a bit rev and snap. I would just have Varner do some motor work on the 250. Trust me, you will have your hands full! No need for the 300 in my opinion.
