I missed a lot of you at the track today. If someone did what did I today, if I wouldn’t at least be pissed off I’d certainly question his judgment. I was an idiot and I know better. I’m the guy that farmed it 2 turns after passing for the lead in the 1st moto. For those who missed the spectacle my bike was still running, the clutch lever was nicely buried in the dirt engaged and my bike was pointing perfectly in the right direction, and only a couple guys had gotten by. I knew what might happen if I swung my leg back over the bike at the wrong time, but damn I still had a shot at salvaging the moto. Instead of waiting for the pack to go by adrenaline took over and I went for it. Big mistake – My bad! I know at least 2 of you tagged me pretty good once I started pin balling and 2 more of you guys hit the dirt with me. (my second dismount) I’m really glad we all got going again and I hope I didn’t mess anyone’s graphics up too bad or rip any new grips……I hate it when that happens - or worse. I know that wasn’t really “just racing” and should have never happened. Sorry.

Wonderful. I can only find last weeks report, probably just as well. I heard there was a nice photo sequence.

Whatever it shows it'll show it was totally my fault.

It's racing...the good will that you and your brother show all year more than makes up for any racing incident.

Is this the same Fitz that took my buddy out last week after he passed for the lead in the 40 int class at REM?

They weren't amused with ya! Especially when you clean out an MXA guy.

Where did you find this? I can't find the race report. One of my buddies is in that photo. I want to tell him where it is.

LOL.....Oh man....that would be the other brother, as in me! Sorry bout that! Us Fitz-G bros haven't been riding too smooth these last 2 weekends. Techniquley if I wasn't there your buddy wouldn't have crashed....yes....but in my defense it was kind of a technical one-lined chicane turn that I flubbed up or sort of hesitated on for a second (not on purpose) and he bounced off my back wheel and crashed (I don't know how I saved it myself...whew!). Anyway, it wasn't like I came from behind and took him out on purpose......I was in front of him, made a mistake and took him out accidently. But yes, that was me! As an embarrassed gov. Rick Perry would say...."Ooops!"

Looks like there was some inconsistent scores in the 50 Int. class! Also heard we had a big class.
I was loading up in the morning to head out there and heard the wind was blowing pretty good. By the pictures though, it doesn't look like it was too bad. Guess I should have went!

Yeah,I was right behind Jeff when you two collided and went down. I got collected up on top of his bike trying not to hit his body. Didn't hurt anything though. Just had to get my bike off his and then hit the restart button.Love that thing!

Every Vet race should have an apology page. "Sorry, I thought I could go faster but I lost control"...... Actually that works for most all riders.

Ha,ha... I went down that moto trying to pass 2nd at the top off the first downhill. After getting myself together, I resumed racing, and there you were, coming "down" the "uphill"! lol... MXA has a pic of us at that moment.

Good racing with you in the 2nd moto. I bet you were surpised when I passed you for the lead on my 2 stroke in the Talladega turn? You raced clean though. I just wish I was in shape so I didn't have to give the spot back!

As for Jeff, yes, you should've went!

Coming with “hat in hand” was the least I could do, I wasn’t even sure who I took out to apologize in person at the track. I’m usually the safety conscious one in my group and if I saw my kid do what I did, I’d have to talk to him….I knew better. – See ya at the races next year!

Bret, thanks for the kind words. If I was a 16 year old intermediate I could say it was “just racing” but I knew exactly the position I was in and went for it anyway. MXA summed it up pretty good by calling it a crash that didn’t have to happen; and yeah nothing like getting immortalized riding backwards on a MX track – something about don’t mess with the guys who have a microphone, or in this case a camera (doh…) I almost benched myself for the second moto. Hope to see you at the track soon.

Yeah it was a bit inconsistent, thanks to me. Wind was a little sketchy down the long straight after Talladega and I had one close call over a jump in practice that had me practically rolling everything the rest of the day, I don’t ride that track enough to remember the wind patterns. You should’ve come out Jeff, actually it’s just as good you didn’t – after all there was probably like a 15% chance we would of crashed into each other.

Don't think that wasn't lost on me. I've been reading MXA since Baz's Box and won't do anything to my bike unless Jody says it's OK, not to mention I hope to be racing with these guys for a while to come and theres not whole lot of us out there (actually I guess there is now) I felt like an idiot. Your joking right?

LOL I havn't raced OTHG in 10 years, and then only twice. You must be talking about the time I got whiskey throttle in the rockers on a borrowed YZ426 at Perris Raceway at my first race back in 20 years and swapped into someone. If not......um nevermind. If so. THAT was racing at it highest most on the edge form, but sorry.

Yeah I was a little surprised when you went by, it was actually at the bottom of Shoei Hill only because I thought that 2 Stroke was Skinner the whole time. I never noticed he brought his thumper this week. You had me in the pressure cooker there and I finally popped! I know the feeling of having to give a spot….or 2 back, lol. At least you were about a lap or so more in shape than I was. I was spent by the time you came motoring by, minimal sleep and lack of nutrition will do that to ya. At the exact second we went by each other in the first moto I was thinking, great Jeff Ward could be watching me ride backwards on a motocross track just like he did at a Rosebowl SX. Goodrace my friend and hope to see ya on the track soon.
