Ktm has outgrown all the Japs due to many factors...but Japs will find a way .... thats their nature.
A bunch of wrong decisions though...that let the monster grow....keep that 4 choke game and things will get worst.
I love all bikes but I have been seeing 2 strokes getting very strong again.
This is another reason why you're going to be seeing more riders putting together their own efforts in the off-road scene. It's a lot easier to get a little support from a lot of different sources than a lot of support from one. Thad Duvall put together his own effort for the GNCC's this year and Chris Bach did the same after parting with Factory Beta. It's not exactly easy but they're still at the races week in and week out, and Duvall even won Unadilla.
Team Green was/is a support program. The offroad team was always under it's budget and jurisdiction. The offroad team didnt have access nor the budget for any "factory" goodies. It may have looked like a factory team, it may have been Kawi's official offroad team, but it wasnt "Factory Kawi Offroad". Dont get distracted by the semi truck.
Now if you can see the forrest from the trees on this, you'll get my original point, which is that we will LIKELY still see Kawi support some sort of effort next year. They just wont be able to provide the salaries via Monster. But the bikes will be the same. There was nothing worx about Kawi's offroad bikes. Whether they are giving bikes to a private team or to the Team Green squad, the quality of equipment will be the same and bikes will PROBABLY be on the line.
Pit Row
Im not sure what teams have spots available to be honest. WORCS has been dying a slow death so its not like their are other prominent teams for him to jump too that Im aware of.
And KTM has already made all the offers to their current guys. I dont expect their roster to change nor will they be adding anyone new. In fact, KTM USA is probably going to lose Caselli to KTM Europe for the World Enduros next year.
It's a very tough time to be a part of the offroad community unless you are under the Orange tent. If TM, GasGas, or Beta ever wanted to really make a splash in America, now is the chance because they would have little to no competition from the Japanese brands.. They build REAL enduro bikes that consumers like and want, the consumer just doesnt know they exist. But sadly, Im not counting on a Euro invasion anytime soon.
People love to hide behind their keyboard and claim they're the insider who knows all but actually knows little of the facts. Or are you really insiders who shouldn't be discussing company information but can't help but talk about what you shouldn't be, especially on a public forum board?
I like Kawi and have worked with those guy and have owned their bikes, but it's all about sales guys... The KX isn't a very popular offroad bike (though it"s a capable one) and they have to cut their losses somewhere... This being the offroad progarm...
Couple that with the fact that off road racing just does not get any real media exposure or draw big crowds and the answer gets easy. Smaller pie overall and no real ROI from that venue. MX draws more people to watch and gets far more coverage.
Sad to see happen. Off road racing has always been near and dear to me and represents some of the best moments I have had in over 35 years of racing mx, desert, and cars in a lot of different venues.
People will still be out there racing off road, even with the cut backs. I suspect we will see less travelling and folks choosing the events they attend more carefully.
