Hey guys, I remember reading a while back about a some of you guys having nerve issues. Pain down the leg and such. I'm looking for a little experience. I've had a hard time getting an appointment with the neurosurgeon. Here's what's up.

Like most mxers, I've had my share of dingers. About three years ago I broke 9 ribs, collarbone, shoulder blade, T-1, and tore a big hole in my left lung. When I came to and got out of the hospital, after a couple of months I was left with a numb spot about the size of the palm of my hand on my right hip, around back, just above my belt.

That rocked on about three years and suddenly, about three months ago, it started growing. It first spread to the middle of my back, then around to my belly button. That took about a week or so. Then it started down my leg. In another week or two it was about six inches down my leg and over to my crotch.

Another three weeks and it has now gone down below my knee. It covers about two thirds of the circumference of my thigh most of it except my ham string area It was annoying until it got below half way down my thigh, now it feels like my thigh is weak and sluggish and my knee feels like it has fluid on it all the time.

Before any of this spreading I would get pain down the back of my leg, deep, and buzzing from time to time on my right hip like my cell phone was going off. Now, nothing.

Any of you guys had experience like this? Prognosis? Cures?

No doctor here but I would say go to doctor. Sciatic can do all types of weird things and cause numbness in odd places. It won't get better with out the right care. Sometimes people swear they have a broken femer and really its a pinched nerve in back. Even with zero pain in back. Good luck.

Sorry to hear about what you are experiencing. With the speed that the symptoms are progressing, I would make it a major priority to get this checked out by a physician. If you have a primary, go to them and they can hopefully get you into a specialist if needed. Take care, man.

Go to the Dr... The longer you wait the harder it is to reverse the damage, possible disc problem, Sciatic issue? You will need an MRI for sure and once they pinpoint the problem you can research the best course of treatment with the help of the doc!

My wife is a nurse and I've had several consults and multiple MRIs from head to tail. In the original post I explained that I was looking for first hand experience with this. I'm just trying to figure out what I can expect before hand. It's been about three months now. I finally have a neurosurgeon appointment this week. But I'm not real sure I'll get much result from it for a while.
