Well,I just plunked down some cash on a used Honda 919 today, but I'm holding out on the dirtbike.I'm hoping to get the 08 Yz450 but still pricing around.I don't really need an 09 so a new 07 or new 08 at the right price will have to do.
Hopefully you find a good deal doing that. Most of the time they only mark them down about 500.00 around here. How do you like that 919?

I just rode it home but I think it will be a good bike.Plenty fast enough for LA and great for gas mileage and in and out of traffic. I'm looking at a White 08 YZ450 for $6099 OTD and an 07 CRF450 for $5799 OTD.The 08 Honda CRF450 is still $6800.Not sure how much those prices will drop when the 09's hit.

To be perfectly honest, if I was buying I would go for one of the Honda's. There is only 1 reason I ride Yamaha over Honda and it is a very cheap one, so I will stay with them. My biggest issue with the Yamaha's is the cornering. They just don't corner like a Honda. They are just as reliable though so I usually do not complain to much. Any of the 3 will be a great bike. I do like the 2007 YZ450F better than the 2008 model though. The "white" is kind of cool as well. Its better to start with white on a Yamaha anyway. After a few tip overs, rocks and roost, and plastic swaping the "blue" Yamaha's start turning white anyway.

My buddy has broke 2 kick starters, and 2 rear hubs on his 07 Yamaha 450. POS if you ask me. And he's a 40+ vet rider.

I have never had such luck and I have never heard OR read of anyones else having such luck either. That is pretty messed up. Sorry to hear that.

Serious question here Crowe176.

Have you always used PC pipes or have you ever used a Bills Pipe on your Suzuki's?

Do a search. Plenty of YZ's grenading hubs. The kid at the parts counter knew what bike it was from before I even said anything when I set the hub on the counter.

Never used Bill's. This is my first RM in 12 years. I've been on CR's/CRF's for the last decade.

I'll take your word for it, I am just saying I have never heard or seen it happen.

So, are you staying Suzuki or did you like the Hondas better?

The only reason I asked about the pipe is because I have noticed the PC pipe does not work as well as a White Bros on my Yamaha. PC always seems to work better on Kawi's. Since Bill's is like the Suzuki guru I was just curious.

I had the 06 CRF450 and loved it.So you say the 07 YZf steers better than the 08? That's the opposite that I've heard from everyone else.Hard to get anything to steer like the Honda or maybe the zook though.

have a 07 yz 450. Kick starter broke the 2nd time I started the thing. My dealer warrantied it and have not had a problem since. You can start that bike with flip flops on. No matter what you do to it though, it will not turn like a Honda or suzuki. Bike is rock solid stable though.

I usually have bought used because you get such a great deal. Last new bike I bought was an 05 CRF250 and loved it then I got rid of that and got a slightly used 06 CRF450. I am thinking hard about getting rid of the 450 or maybe even keeping it and getting an 09 CRF250. It really depends if I get back into racing again or not. I haven't really been riding much at all this past year so I might just be wasting my money. I haven't had a chance to really race the 450 yet but raced quite a bit on my 250f.

I like how there is great assumption that because a certain brand of aftermarket pipe will work better on one bike rather than the other based on the fact that the factory team is running that brand pipe. Sometimes the assumption is correct... But most of the time it is because the person riding wants to feel the difference. Companies don't want to make a bad pipe, but sometimes due to their available tooling or resources they have to. It's a business and a poor performing pipe still makes more money than no pipe at all. Just a funny side note... I recently tested a 08 RMZ450 with a bills pipe, and it was horrible. Both butt dyno and real dyno. I have considerable experience with most manufacturers pipes, and I will swear on the bible for most people stock is absolutely best. Unless you need a spark arrestor for a mx bike!

Thanks. I put a 50t on it right after i broke it in. I just changed it out and the sprocket bolts were as tight as could be. I did use lock tite and I changed out the bolts as well this time around.

Changing the oil on this bike is a pain in the arse as well, but all in all its been a great bike.

Exactly right. Hard to beat stock on these 4 strokes

Guy's like Dubach make their living on making the best ( and affordable ) pipe possible for each bike. (Not necessarily relying on the name alone selling a product) I have personally tested Dr. D's stuff against his competitors, and his pipes ( that I have ran back to back against others ) are top notch. Meaning that they are not always the best...but they are never the worst. They make a nice product and are committed to making a product for the guys who will actually buy pipes! Not the guys who are given parts. This isn't an add for Dr. D products or anything, but I'm not shy or reluctant to tell people about good products. Dubach is committed to the sport, especially at the level that affects the majority of us. ( Slow guys that think a pipe will make us RC! ) I have zero experience with their reliability, or durability, but I would bet they would stand behind their stuff if anything happened to it. Sorry about the rant. I apparently like to type.
