Hmmm ive never heard of Contour, but i now see them advertising on Vital. How long have they been out? Are they trying to compete with GoPro? Im looking some stuff up about them. I was going to buy a go pro... But im all about an under dog!

Anyone ever used them?

I have a contour. It is decent. Doesn't seem to handle changes in light to well, but overall it is good. I would still say a go pro is better in quality.

Contour has been around for quite a while. I remember them back from '06 ish if I'm not mistaken. Seems they've been around longer than GoPro. I still prefer my GoPro, but mostly because Contour has features that don't personally interest me (such as all the GPS tracking type stuff which might be more appealing to say back-country skiers or hunters).

Just saw and ad for one that Dyrdek and TP199 are pushing... Looked pretty compact.

Havn't seen any media recoreded with the top of the line Contour but the cheaper ones are ok. Not really the same image quality as the Go Pros, but they do record the sound A LOT better.

Go Pro may have an exclusive deal for MX like they did in SX. Contour was a sponsor of H&H in 2011 but their riders were not allowed to run a Contour camera and do any filming at SX races because of Go Pro's deal with Feld. They had to fight to be able to run a dummy camera on the helmets to try and get some attention for their sponsor. Contour was not a sponsor of H&H in 2012 likely due to them not being allowed to promote their brand at the races.

I've got a Contour ROAM and I really dig it. I'm going to buy a Liquid Image EGO next though and try that out.

Nothing from the track yet. Just some trail riding in the desert.

Check Amazon. I got mine for $141. They’re 780P. The new ones are 1080P.

Looks a little shaky - similar to how GoPro's chesty looks.

Probably just my head. Wink

There are two big problems that my friends with GoPros complain about. The camera falling off or getting knocked off and not knowing its gone until you get back to the truck and not being able to tell if the camera is on or off without taking your helmet off. With the goggle cam losing it is obviously not a problem and there is a blue LED inside the goggles that you can look up and check with them on that flashes when you’re recording. Can’t see it when you look ahead. And the on-off switch is big and easy to hit with gloves on.

Sounds like an opportunity for GoPro to sell us more hardware.. a little LED that attaches to one's goggles.. kind of the same idea as the goggle cam. I worry about mine coming off.

Drift's are pretty good, contour and gopro are pretty equal. I say go with the brand the supports moto (gopro)

Contour actually sponsored Star last year or 2 years ago, but when gopro started sponsoring the supercross series, they got any other helmet cameras banned

I'm sticking with my GoPro. The features, add ons and accessories available are unmatched.

This was taken with an older Contour 1080p. I only picked it over go pro because the form factor seems better suited for enduros and less likely to get ripped off my head by a tree. I would probably have a go pro if I raced mx, but this will give you an idea what a contour can do. It was filmed in 720p, 60 f/s.
