James problem is that they over water the tracks?

I hope your joking...

What was Weimer, Byrne and Dungey's problem at the same race? Bike setup? Had time to test and screw it up, or do crashes just happen?

Jesus himself could critique James and the Stewart fans would log on and say he should shut up because he could not blitz a set of whoops as fast as #7.
LOL, and true...great rider but.never in history of the sport has one rider had a bigger fan base of brown-nosers and just down right dipshits.

No shit man. It's always the same fucking jokers that come into every single James Stewart thread and defend them with their lives. It's funny as hell.

I've actually become more of a Stewart fan this year than I was when he was on a 125......because he's back out riding the nationals. (That and now he's considered a VET.....always cheer for the VET guys! ) James isn't the one who needs "Criticism".........it's his fucking retarded fan base. ( Not all of em'.....just most )

ALWAYS the same dudes.....every single time.....doesn't matter what the thread is even about........they will all crawl in here on their hands and knees looking to give James an internet blow job.

Pretty pathetic shit.

The extreme bias works both ways Jeffro. It's always the same fucking jokers who have an issue with every little thing Stewart does or doesn't do ever since they have signed up at Vital. People defend every rider, and most of the time it is with good reason, as probably 99% of the people who find issues with these guys every move are C riders or less. And with Stewart, Reed, RV, Dungey etc... we are talking about some of the best riders in the history of the sport. It would be similar to a high school quarterback saying what Peyton Manning should be doing differently. As far as Preston, I think he is definitely qualified to give his opinion on Stewarts set-up and could very well be correct, but I can understand some people having some skepticism also, due to the fact he has had issues with Stewart, works for JGR and is promoting his MX school at the bottom of the article.
Very good points man , and understood. I'm not sure if Preston is 100% correct , but he made some good points. I just get tired of the hardcore fans that speak about shit they have no idea about. This isn't just Stewart fans......it's the hardcore stalker fans for RD , RV , Reed Ect.......

I myself couldn't stand being a fan of just "one rider"......it would ruin it for me every time that one rider had an issue. It's so much more enjoyable to just watch the race and the riders competing in it in a whole. Watch the race for what it is. Everyone is entitled to an opinion , but some are just a little harder to read than others.

When you fall down once during the weekend you can chalk it up to just an accident. When you crash 3 times in 2 motos than it can point to a bigger issue.

But Weimer fell down about 17 times at Southwick so who knows what that means.

My resume isn't strong enough to critique Travis anymore than his is to critique someone with multiple major championships, who will be in the AMA Hall of Fame. Bro.

When you have a website that promotes your school and these are the accomplishments you list to promote yourself:

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

1999 AMA Pro Motocross Top Privateer
2001 125cc Houston Supercross Winner (On a HUSKY!)
2002 125cc West Coast Supercross Champion
2005 450cc AMA Pro Motocross 5th Overall
2006 450cc AMA Pro Motocross 5th Overall
2007 450cc Anaheim 1 Supercross—4th
2007 450cc Phoenix Supercross—4th

And then you try to critique a guy whose resume looks like this:
2006 Motocross of Nations Champion
2008 Motocross of Nations Champion

2003 AMA 125 West Supercross Champion
2004 AMA 125 East Supercross Champion
National finals
2002 AMA 125 Motocross National Champion
2004 AMA 125 Motocross National Champion
2007 AMA Supercross Champion
2008 AMA Motocross National Champion
2009 AMA Supercross Champion

It just doesn't hold any credibility to me. It's like a quarterback in the Canadian Football League trying to critique Drew Brees.

I've seen some pretty stupid shit on this site, but this has got to be one of the most ignorant, dumbest logics that has been posted in a long while. Using this flawed logic of yours, because Preston has not accomplished what JS has on the track, and is not faster than him, TP does not have the "resume" to comment on JS or his setup? Hank Haney and Butch Harmon could not beat Tiger Woods in a round of golf if he gave them 15 strokes, they couldn't out drive him if they hit from the ladies tees, yet both have helped him to numerous PGA victories and made his careeer what it is today, same could be said for Tiger's dad.

What about RC's MOM and DAD, neither of them could hold a candle to RC on a bike, but look what they molded him into....the GOAT, look at Millsaps MOM. What about Lou Holtz and Notre Dame football, Joe Gibbs and the Redskins or his Nascar team(Stewart, Busch, Logano, Hamlin etc), how about Madden, one of the most respected coaches in football, Wooden (NCAA basketball), he couldn't even dunk for christ sake. Tim Ferry must be a piece of shit because although JS hired him to test the YZF 450, Ferry doesn't have as many wins or C-Ships as JS so to hell with all that testing/feedback/input. Mitch Payton is one of the most respected in the industry, but because he doesn't have titles and race wins riding a bike, you're telling me he doesn't have the "resume" to critique a riders style or setup? I could go on for days, it's pointless, you can't fix stupid! Here's hoping you don't have offspring, go watch some Canadian Football you toolbag.
There is no logic in the thinking of a JSE fan, only pure man love for Bubba,

the original premise is good, the 3 1/2 pages of bickering about who has the biggest dick, like what you're doing, is what makes this a waste of time.

I think Preston was critiquing James' bike mostly and I think his credentials are more than adequate for that. So he lays that down as the foundation and ultimately draws the conclusion that James is a bad test rider. Travis is entitled to have an opinion and the foundation for it seems pretty legitimate IMO.

I think you missed this part: "His lack of knowledge when testing is not his only problem." That's the last sentence of his paragraph about James, and then the next paragraph in the original article.

And yes, I firmly believe that if you COULD do it you WOULD be doing it. But if you can't do it, how are you supposed to tell somebody else how to do it?
teachers do it all the time, just saying its that old saying those that can do those that cant teach.
james is a great rider but he does seem to lack the technical no how and how to tell the mechanics what the bike needs to make it better.

People used to criticize RC's setup, where did that get him, the GOAT.

At the highest level, it is business, success is getting out healthy win a big bank account. JS7 can crush Preston with his wallet and championships......nuff said.

Biased, IMO

1. Stewart pulled onto the track in Toronto one year after crashing his brains out and didn't look both ways and Preston T-boned him and crashed out. Preston then approached Stewart and told him he was an idiot.

2. Stewart's side kick has been Eric Sorby. Enough said there.

3. Stewart's riding style plus stature is drastically different from Preston's...so why would Preston feel comfortable with Stewart's set-up?

4. Travis seems to be an out spoken but dry humored joker and surrounds himself with jackasses.

5. Stewart has always won championship with stiff forks...won on a kawi...won on a yamaha...and will win the 2013 SX championship on the Suzuki. He is a proven champion with stiff forks.

6. Stewart is human, every motocross rider tips over and loses their balance.

That's how you think James is crashing?......Tipping over?

Me....being an older Vet rider....if I "tipped over" that hard.....I'd being in the hospital for 6 months.

I will say....James is made of muscle , gristle and rubber......some of the wrecks that guy has had and been able to walk away from are incredible to say the least. If anything , it's a testament on how much of an athlete that guy really is.

I guess this may be what Jason Thomas meant when he said to that random caller dude " Sir.....I promise you , Stewart is no pussy! "

I would guess Preston has some unique perspective on Stewart's bike setups. Travis had to jump on Stewart's bike and finish off the 2008 SX season for Kawasaki when Stewart wrecked his knee and pulled out of SX after round 2.
BINGO......Preston knows first hand of James' setup. He knows how difficult it would be to ride a bike with a super-stiff fork, because he did it back in '08 on the KX. Travis had to take the time to set up the bike to his liking to a more neutral setting.

I think that is TP's main point......JS didn't have enough time on the RM to tune it to his liking. James looked great those 1st two races, but I bet you he wasn't comfortable because he may not have been able to hit stuff as fast as he would like. He basically had to hit stuff at normal race pace, not hyper-speed that JS is accustom to. He probably started to get worried when Dungey was all over him at Texas, and they started tweaking on the suspension to suit his riding preference.....hyper speed!

I thought GuyB said it best about JS "Going as fast as you can is exactly that. Going as fast as you can...not necessarily as fast as you want to. There's a big difference."
