I went to Dilla and the Wick....I stood in the same general area I always do and this year at the Wick just opposite of the top of the start fans had an EZ-up tied in the corner of the fenced in area...this blocked atleast 20-30 standing spots plus the surrounding people can't view because it's suck a view blocker. At Dilla it was pretty horrendous...half of the far hill where the pine trees are was filled with EZ -UPS....you literally couldn't see the whole rhythm section because there were so many of them. I thought they weren't allowed? I counted 10 in one spot...it sux as a fan...

I looked at all the photos passed on to me from Paul Buckley , This was the only Pop-up we saw our security was supposed to hav all removed i gueess i will have to pass this photo on to them . We do not allow people to bring them into the event, As you can see in the photo alot of people could not veiw the race from there because of the banners on the fence up so high..

That's the one that blocked us.....normally that corner is packed with people getting the best view of the Wick...

Totally agree!

It seems like a real douche move when people do that, very selfish.

I can see that there should be certain sections for them. I don't think that outlawing them is the way to go. I had mine at budds creek this year and it was awesome. It is the only way I can bring my whole family to the race. My two youngest kids who love motocross would have been miserable all day if it were not for the ez up. There were quite a few at budds creek. However, in the section I was in I dont think it was a problem. There was tons of open space at the bottom of henry hill. Maybe this is not an issue at budds creek. But the packed areas around big gulp I don't remember seeing any. With all that being said I know the hardcore fans hate them however, they are real value for my family. Hell I don't even mind being charged some money(20 bucks) to bring it in.

I edited my post to add We had 6 of us under our 10x10 ez up.

The core issue is it blocks others view...not to mention the whole "taping off" an area...that's just selfish.

And just imagine if you did that at an outdoor concert? People would just tear it down.

The problem at Texas is... 500 degrees and little shade. The EZ ups are a must have. And like you, we had a full crew under ours (you end up with lots of friends).

Totally agree... at Red Bud it was so freaking hot that now way should they be outlawed... If someone had theirs right up against the fence...

x3. There is no "reserving" space or taking "ownership" of real estate at a race. Lawn chairs, EZ-up, or police tape don't mean squat to me. I will pay no heed whatsoever to any of these. I've moved plenty of lawn chairs away from "saved" spaces along the fence. The owners were quite upset when they returned to find me there. Don't bother me one bit.

I think the problem is an easy fix, if you want to have an EZ-up next to a fence where spectators usually stand then the rule should be anyone can go under it as if it was a normal spot with free shade! Then everyone would think about where their setting up instead of just taking the best spot and not allowing anyone else to enjoy that same spot.

That is it in a nutshell. Fuck everyone else, let's put up a tent and claim space like a land grab.

I remember back at the National at Glen Helen they allowed us all to put our ez ups along the fence beside the sand whoops and ut of buds creek.

Then the next year they banned them.
