I don't know that it's as interesting as obvious Cairoli's comment about the 450 class being more competitive in Europe this year with the injuries to the rest of the top guys here. That's kind of obvious, although it doesn't seem like he's really been threatened any more than Dungey has if you put aside the dnf in Sweden, but it certainly seems true that he's more likely to be beaten than Dungey with Stewart, RV, Reed, and Canard out.
Nice piece on Roczen. The kid is getting entirely too much grief for a season most guys would kill for. Looks like you missed an attribution on the DeCoster quotes you lifted from MXA's interview, though; you wouldn't want to be accused of plagiarizing their work.
I think he meant the competition is much stronger in the MX1 class compared to doing the 450 Nationals in 2012. In saying that the GP series like the Ama series has missed three of the top five guys from 2011 often (Nagl, Frossard and Bobryshev often injured), but the depth here is enormous. Paulin, Pourcel, Desalle have all taken GP wins from Cairoi, but you are correct he probably has won as much as Dungey, but the racing has been a lot closer in Europe. Both series are awesome, the World of MX is a lucky place at the moment.

It seems like the injury thing goes back in forth in classes and in the series. It's a bummer for the 450's here this year given how strong the top guys are when healthy. To some degree it's always been the case. It's alway disappointing, though, when your expectation is high, especially after a patch where you had one transcendent rider dominating for a period (as with RC here and Everts in your ballpark) and you're ready to see guys mixing it up at the front.
I do think when you have a lot of guys that good at the same high level they push it, whether indoors or outdoors, and things happen (witness Reed at Millville outdoors last year, and at Dallas this year). The circumstance is that the supercross season comes before the outdoors, and that's 17 chances for something to happen before you ever hit real dirt.
CP377 said there is 50/50 about racing here or the US. He prefers to race in the US tho but if he does, he will ride for a team and not bring his own.
