I recently purchased a 2004 rm 250 and I'm having some difficulties getting it to run good the motor feels like its going to foul a plug when the throttle is at 1/4 to 1/2 throttle ....so here's the run down i live in western mass about 1000 feet above sea level I have a pro circuit pipe with a 304 silencer vforce reeds (brand new) I'm running 50/50 c12 and 93 octane pump gas with maxima castor 927 at 40:1 the jetting I have is a 165 main with a 45 pilot , necj needle set on the position 2 and a 7.0 slide also I should mention the guy I bought it from said the cylinder was ported and polished by bills pipe I had the cylinder apart to put in fresh rings and the porting looked sloppy I believe ...could this not be a jetting issue and maybe he tried to port and polish this himself ??? Also my friend said maybe I could have a solenoid issue on the carb ??? I'm trying to get to the bottom of this issue the bike runs good on top but in the middle it's completely and terribly flat. Can anyone out there throw me some advice

As always, start with the easiest things first. There's a lot of trial and error sometimes when trying to tune a bike. Try a smaller pilot, or different adjustment of the air screw. From what you say, sounds like it's rich on the low end. If you don't have any jets, move the clip one spot and see. The porting is anyone's guess. Play with it a little and see what happens.

did you clean the carb? try that first, then go on PCs website and put the jets they recomend in there, if that dont work, did you check to make sure the powervalve was working when you had the cylinder off? did you conntect it rite, again clean the carb, as in take everything out all the jets the choke, the air screw and the power jet soliniond blow it out with compressed air, and go from there

Yea I cleaned the carb out and the jets I used where the pc recommended but I'm going pull the carb back off and check the power jet again and take the solenoid off and clean that again and check the power valve to make sure that functioning properly it's been a number of years since I've owned a 2 smoker and my last one an 06 yz 250 the jetting always seemed perfect always crisp now I'm wondering if I can't get this thing dialed if I should run back to yzs I paid 1900 for this thing and I've got 1500 into already and I'm still not done wondering if I made the wrong choice Sad

Alittle update took the carb apart today and don't laugh i had the clip on position 4 not 2 where it should of been (I've been riding fuel injected 450s the past couple years my bad ) but changing the position cleaned the bogging up about 90 percent maybe now just need to change the pilot and screw with the air screw also while I've got some peoples attention whats your opinion on flywheel weighs and how much onces I was thinking an 8oz but I'm not sure any help
