this is too broad of a question...

best OEM bike mfg marketing?

apparel?

after market parts / accesories ??

energy drink???

what does 'the best' mean? ..most aesthetically pleasing advertisements, originality or ROI?

and does the best advertising mean the most sales?

i dont have access to the bike sales data per mfg but todays consumer is much more informed and has much more power as far as information goes before making a decision before a purchase.

yamaha could spend 10 fold the amount of $$ it does in magazine & online ads and it still wouldnt change the fact that alot of people think the 450 is a turd and the 250F..while a good bike is very outdated.

i will say this though..the best way of advertising is word of mouth and focusing on building a quality product or providing a good service.

Example: I can't imagine a guy like Eric Gorr spending a ton of $$ on advertising but his reputation is almost perfect (never read anything bad about him, used his services in the past but im sure someone might not like him) and he's been around forever.

He does good work and people recommend him to others.

Wow.... You must work in a whole different part of marketing than i do.... Focusing on putting out a better or product has nothing to do with marketing... Good marketing is selling that turd to the masses....
and that turd must be good or it wont last.

Look at Apple....their product is so good that it sells itself.

ill admit, i work in analytics so im not some branding guru but alot of marketing is common sense

Kawi, they have their little gimmicks like their SFF forks or whatever they are, and their adjustable pegs and bar mounts, (Pretty sure yamaha has been doing those clamps for about 7 years). holeshot ignition setting... Things they can market that dont really make a whole hell of a difference.

Not to mention their corporate alignment with Monster. They are synonymous with one another. That was a pretty smart move.

No moto company, would for sure have to be apple. I dont know how they do it but they definitely 'create' a need for their products among consumers.

I must say Carlosmachos does a great job of making americans look like idiots, probably on a really tight budget as well. On the other hand McCread does an equally excellent job destroying your pictures of people from Europe.

I think I have to give my vote to Jeffrey Herlings. I know he is a professional while the guys above are just amateurs, but he creates headlines like no one else at the moment.

BTW How do you guys rank my personal war against fourstrokes? So far I persuaded myself into buying a twostroke last friday so I feel I'm on a roll!

No mention of Race Tech? I'm hurt. Haha.

I honestly look towards FMF, Monster, Red Bull, and Kawasaki quite a bit to see what they are doing because they are some of the best.

I would honestly say maybe the best is Mandingo Pickles. Why? They spend very, very little; and have done a great job with that. The more you spend the more you must make in return.

They got their ROI with Poto, that's for sure.

Honda - pretty good I guess.
Yamaha - good when they did the new reverse engine thing...kinda stale these days it seems
Suzuki - do they even have a marketing dept?
Hands down Troy Lee Designs with their Twiiter Account, Facebook and weekly email blasts, they promote all their athletes.

Non-Bro clothing for those that ride on the weekend...?

I've been wearing that clothing for years: It's a mix of Quicksilver and O'neill combined with whatever free t-shirts I've gotten from various co's, events, strip-clubs, parties...hence...

Old-Dudes jus' don't care...which is WHY they "Rule".

(Oh, don't forget "flip-flops" and a Taco-Tuesday/I'm goin' to Maui permanent attitude)

Krispy Kreme Donuts.

Not a penny spent on advertising, yet people beat their door down for those donuts.
