.

I like the "other 6 nationals" when WMX isn't running idea to start with and let it grow.
BUT we need DC and crew.

Unless manufacturers (including KTM) start homologating their bikes again, there won't be any legal two-stroke bikes left for AMA Pro Racing.
Guy exactly what kind of hoops does a mfg have to go through to get a bike homologated? I guess what I am really asking is how much does it cost?

Not Guy.....but;
I believe they have to prove that a certain number of that model/year bike is "on the showroom floor and available to the public".
So a certain number of bikes have to be made and shipped to dealers then approriate paperwork to enter the bikes for competetion is submitted to AMA.

That's part of it. It's 400. The other part is a fee + paper work, supposedly.

The US 125cc National Championship. A two day event, with qualifiers and LCQ's on Saturday, and finals on Sunday.

Support classes would be relatively pared back, with 250cc and Open two stroke classes A, B and C. 250 and Open four stroke classes A, B and C. No age divisions. If you can go fast in your division, or you want to race just for fun, enter a class.

The premier event of the weekend is a two moto 125cc showdown. Pros only, with a $25,000 purse, and a winner's lion share of ten grand.

This event is so doable it ain't funny.

Once the event is run, then promoters can gauge interest and start thinking about a championship series.

Last September someone tried something similar and called it the North American Two Stroke Championship at Sleepy Hollow MX in PA. Here are the results:

I'm sure it was a really fun weekend for those who participated, but I'm not sure you are going to be able to fund a $25,000 purse with that level of interest.

when i was a cannondale dealer we had a pro who rode for us and we wanted to do southwick on the 440, this is how it was explained to me by the product manager at cannondale, you need the 400 units for sale in dealers by a certian date, then you send the ama a production bike and a some of money which i think was 3000 at the time, then when some one protests your bike if it isnt able to be determined at the track, the send either the bike or the suspected part to the ama, and they check it against the part from the bike that you sent them, im glad cannondale never homogolated the bike those things were heavy and hard to push in the sand

Instead of whining how DC will not add a 125 to the schedule, make your own series.... I mean have the main class the 125cc Pros and Expert Classification. Then have a Open A, Open B and Open C (as support classes), with qualifiers just like the Nationals now. Adding the other classes help guarantee a big turnout.. You could even add different classes if needed.. This would not be very difficult, I could see starting in 2013, easily. Now stop whining and lets do this thing!!!
The MTA, 2 Stroke, world championshipsHuh , have been going for 3 or 4 years now. The race is held on the track everyone would like to see come back as a national, with the bikes everyone wants back in a series/race, yet doesn't seem to be getting much traction as a growing race/series. It seems only a hand full of riders turn up and sponsors aren't hugely interested or able to put enough cash into it so it would be more lucrative for the young guys and privateers to get out there...

ktm has more $ to work with so get the indian guy" whats his name that ran the 50 cc challenge " cool dude , to crank up the KTM 125 CHALLENGE - roll out 40 sx 125's and run a renta ride spec class for a 8 or 10 race series.. ( 5 k per ride ) then everyone can scout the true speed in the class. winner get a factory ride .. etc.. it wont work with out an OEM behind it.
ktm could sell all the bikes and do it again and again and again. it would be a sweet class to watch.

So KTM is going to put an entire semi together and race prep 40 bikes that will be summarily thrashed into oblivion.
Then KTM can rebuild all the bikes and transport them to the next race where they will be thrashed once again.

Do that 8 times.....that's what about 320 or so complete engine/top-end rebuilds, clutches, tranny's, fuel, tires and a fleet of mechanics.
Yeah I can definitely see how that would be attractive for them.
Spend a couple million dollars on something when your product is already selling well.

Plus they can alienate themselves from the rest of the OEM's in the process.

Are they also putting up the $25,000 in prize money?
That will surely sweeten the pot if they are unsure if they should do this.

I think the pure shittyness of that track hurt its attendance. If it were any other track in the district I would have gone..
