Instead of whining how DC will not add a 125 to the schedule, make your own series.... I mean have the main class the 125cc Pros and Expert Classification. Then have a Open A, Open B and Open C (as support classes), with qualifiers just like the Nationals now. Adding the other classes help guarantee a big turnout.. You could even add different classes if needed.. This would not be very difficult, I could see starting in 2013, easily. Now stop whining and lets do this thing!!!

Have at it. Tell me how it works. You think they said lets start a pro motocross series and just like that it was a success and all the top guys jumped on board along with sponsors and spectators. It will never happen and be taken serious unless DC added the class. I hope you pull it off since its easy to do, best of luck to ya.

Hush Ricky, you will be the poster child for this series on your angry YZ.

Did Gorr put a 125 motor together? I talked to the DEP distributor at Budds a few weeks ago. He mentioned you were doing some nationals on that thing. You should run some pro-ams up here on the East coast with it. As long as you can outrun Tony Archer, you'll make some money.

Who's been whining about it, lately? We all want to see it. Kind of out of left field.

Osama Bin Newmann already put up the holeshot money.

the timing is right for this with 1-2 new 125s coming out of Japan, next model year.

Here's an idea. Count how many National tracks have lighting. Run these on Friday night before the National, so you can have a nice industry evening, and cap off the evening with a real motocross race at 8pm. That will do nothing but bring more fans (who spend money) to the race earlier. I just don't know how many of the tracks have lights. Colorado is one.

Wouldn't it be cool to see a Monster / Kawasaki backed factory assisted 125 effort and maybe put a solid top notch "green riding amateur" on it. Gee never thought about that huh? Where are all the new video's of this kid rippin' around on that 125?

No parts and a marketing dept. who came to realize why are we doing this when buying on Monday ain't gonna happen.

I say "Davi bring the Euro companies on board"!!! Pull down Saturdays banners and put up Sundays banners to reflect the new Euro contingent of 125's.

Which 2 Japanese companies are releasing "new" 125's next year? And who really believes this?

You would have to make the series awfully appealing....I would assume.
No entry fees.
Live TV broadcast around the world/web.
Run the old supercross type format with Heats,Semi's & LCQ,rather then 2 motos (that way there is more races).
20 rider mains,40 minutes plus 2 laps.
Have a stock/manufactures class & a mod/works class.
Have 10 rounds.
Huge purse money in each class something like this scale 650k/700k combined both classes,to where if a rider won both stock & mod he could make 100k for the day (or a million if he sweeps the series).
50k 1st
35k 2nd
25k 3rd
20k 4th
19k 5th
18k 6th
17k 7th
16k 8th
15k 9th
14k 10th
10k 11th
9k 12th
8k 13th
7k 14th
6k 15th
5k 16th
4k 17th
3k 18th
2k 19th
1k 20th
(DNF = 0 pay)

Go for it Nate,it would only take time & lots of money. Smile

Yep, I see five new 125's available. Who needs a 400 unit homo rule in a developmental class. Just make sure it's a production based bike.....or not. There were quite a few little cottage industry efforts at the euro races. That could be good for the sport. Still I think it needs to be on the national stage. Way too much history here in the US with the 125cc class. Damn shame that the powers that be killed it off and an equal shame that all involved are making zero effort to bring it back. The AMA knows they screwed up and even now that they have nothing to do with pro-racing (or do they?) they still refuse to acknowledge it. And every damn time Davey steps up to the plate and pitches any two stroke issue, some certain OEM obviously leads a charge against him. If Honda, Kawasaki and Suzuki don't want anything to do with a 125 class, then why would they care?

National stage. Friday night, Under the lights where available. I think that is the key. Interest and ticket sales.

Industry autograph signing, and all that good Friday shit, followed by a 125 race. There has to be 6 tracks with lights.

Heard from another reliable source about the Japanese 125s, but I a like anyone else... not going to drop the guy's name and skyline him like that because people will him. He debunked the Honda rumor, but mentioned Kawasaki and Suzuki.

Next model year being 2013? Don't hold your breath.

Unless manufacturers (including KTM) start homologating their bikes again, there won't be any legal two-stroke bikes left for AMA Pro Racing.

You can read topic after topic on this, and basically it is dead in the water. Bottom line is, the current promoters have said that the OEMs don't want it and nothing will happen to get it going.

AMA Pro Racing?? What's that? The AMA told me they no longer have anything to do with pro racing. Figures, screw it up and run and hide, steal some money from the members on the way out, do a little time in prison.....it's all good.

I think they go five years. You've likely got some time left. Honda and KTM maybe not so much. Smile

The 13s are already out, technically, so by "next" I was referring to '14 models.

The FIM has a 125 class. They, the FIM, also instituted that under-15 rule, which I believe is the catalyst to this all.

I guess all we can really do is keep an eye on that 125 series, and see if the Japanese factories send a developmental rider+bike over there in about another 8-9 months.

Hey Maeda, why dont you get on the phone and "nihongo shaberu" to find out what's going on.

Wasn't there something in there to cover "like" models also? The Yamaha hasn't really changed.

Besides, the whole homologation thing is an AMA rule isn't it? The same AMA that no longer has anything to do with "pro" racing?

i wonder what Emigs real opinion on this is, i know he works for Kawi but i imagine when he was testing the 2013 250f bulldozer, he was wishing it was a 125, everybody loves 125s
6/11/2012 11:28am
I wouldn't want to attempt to rival, conquer and destroy the AMA because:

1. I like DC.
2. We would end up like Megadeth (125 championship), never really comparing to Metallica (AMA), and eventually giving in to drug addiction.

Can anyone roger up with the tracks that have lighting?

1. Thunder Valley
2. elsinore

If it's any help, the official title of the series is, Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing.

Feld has their own issues with trying to figure out how to keep the top guys healthy for a full SX season. Interest seems to fall off as the season progresses and riders drop out. They still do a fair job of filling up stadiums so they may not be overly concerned with who makes it to the outdoors. Gotta imagine it does have some effect on ticket sales and tv viewer numbers. Until someone actually decides whether or not 450's indoors are too much and the 250F's continue to be regionals there really isn't any expectation that they would even consider adding a 125 to their show.

Outdoors though, where real motocross takes place.....what a great addition it would be. And we all know DC is moto to the core.Wink

There had been a YZ125 Ti subframe on Ebay for the longest time. They were asking damn near retail. Not much of a market for that old stuff except me.....and you! I picked up a couple extra ti subframes and DSP full "seca stacked" Carbon airboxes for my 01 YZ250F for damn near nothing. Like fifty bucks each. Used, but perfect condition.

What specific shock are you looking for? I'll ask some of my vintage nutjob friends. Mind numbing some of the stuff people have stashed away.

So your telling me with the right people involved this would not work? Give me some reasons why. This would be perfect for people like AC and other mini riders moving up.
