Anyone know how he is? Saw him wreck going for third, didn't look good. Shame as he was riding great.

Hate to bag on the kid cause I like him even more than I do James and it sounds like he's a good guy, but he seems to crash even more than his brother does which is saying something. Has he had a single race this year where he hasn't crashed? If so not many. Also seems to get more than his share of bad luck.

Maybe it's not in his style, but he really needs to start riding in his comfort zone before he seriously injures himself or someone else. If that barely puts you top 20, so be it.

Malcolm was hauling. I think he would be better off on a 450

Yep, too big for the 250 and has to ride ragged to keep it moving.

Yeah was about to say the same thing, I think he might be having to try to hard on the 250 eff, he actually looks smooth so maybe he is having to stretch it out too much on the little bike...

Hes a KTM boy and they have a 350. I reckon those few extra ponies would carry him alot better.

I think maybe Malcolm feels a lot of pressure being James brother. James was winning everything on a 125 when he came up, and Malcolm is struggling. He's definitely crashing a lot, and needs to slow down and just finish some motos. Seems like a good kid, hate to see him hurt himself , or someone else.

Your right he picked up about 20ft of the repeater banner at the finish line. It took the team 20 min to cut it all out so they could roll the bike.

In all honesty I think Jame's stats are something Malcolm doesn't really care about.
Up until 4-5 years ago Malcolm didn't even want to race professional and said he would much rather be a pro bass fisher or something like that. If Malcolm was brought up and bread to be the next James Stewart then yes, he would then feel the pressure I am sure.

Malcolm seems like his own person to me very independent from James and even James Sr.
Malcolm I believe is out there for two things, Fun and Money.
Cause who else doesn't want to be able to ride a dirtbike for fun and get paid for it?

Malcolm is blast to watch ride but he has hit the deck a lot this year, I have never seen him or even heard of him riding a 450 for the most part but it could be worth a shot.

Sure would. but it's not legal in the 250 class, and it's outgunned in the 450s.

How about, "He's a KTM boy, his year and career doesn't seem to be going in the direction he had hoped thus far, so let's put him on the 250SX in the 450 class, what does he have to lose?"

Yes S.Loyer, Malcolm is most definitely mama's baby from the looks of it.

According to MXA KTM never homolgated the 250SX so it is not legal in the 450 class.

Are the homologation rules for SX and MX different? The bikes are homologated by the AMA which would be both SX and MX.

I think it would have benefted Malcolm to have stayed on the Suzuki for another year. Not so much that its a Suzuki, but to ride the same brand of bike two years in a row would breed familiarity and confidense.

I think its taking him too long to get used to the KTM.

He looked great on TV those first couple laps at High Point! Eager to see what he has at the next round.

Correct me if I'm wrong.... but, if I remember right? His last year as an amateur, his better results came on a 450. I remember he would finish around 3rd thru 6th some races on his 250f, then go out and win a moto or 3 on the forfiddy at the same event when he was riding both classes. That seemed to happen at a couple of his races near the end of his amateur career. So yep, definitely be interesting to see what he could do on the big bike!

Think he was the fastest guy on the track early in moto 1..i was stoked, and kept saying to myself "cmon kid hold it together... and seconds later thay announced he went down..didnt look bad but what a shame" he had a hell of a race goin and finally showed his true speed and ability on a bike!! He blew by Eli and Bagget and was still catching barcia and hahn!!

the '11 model is legal. the '12 model isn't. my point is, if KTM actually put someone on one, they would take the steps needed to have the AMA approve it.

I'm not trying to talk badly about the kid, but I'm not sure I remember ANY race he was in where he didn't crash.... ever.

I hope he can turn it around.
