I’ve had to do this about 5 times and honestly this was the hardest ever—ripped my heart out as she was a special dog to me who was always by my side and I miss her a lot.
Well being the Alpha dog that she was has left AJ in a state of confusion and he has gone downhill ever since.
I found him too as a stray—abused and scared in the desert along a road at night. No matter how much I luved him there was always moments where he was skittish and never overcame that. He was happiest chasing the Frisbee at the lake where there were no closed doors.
AJ has had Valley Fever for more than half of his life (11-12yrs) and lately it has hit him hard as the meds are no longer working. He can’t make it around the block and has lost his appetite and doesn’t seem happy.
I’m going to have to put him down any day now and this really bums me out.
Just 7 months ago I had two happy dogs to greet me when I came home from all the BS at work.
Now I will have none…
This really sucks and can’t take anymore for awhile—too much pain so I will havta go dogless for awhile
Thanks for everything….

Well wishes to your pup, and you and your family.
Sorry to hear about your pup 14 yrs is a good life for a dog. I don't think any of mine made it to 13.....
It's tough, good luck with yours, there is nothing like a loyal dog always by your side.
To help you make the decision when its time, Think what you would want in the same situation forwhere yourself ifwould you were terminally ill.Would you want to be made to go until you had no dignity left or would you wish someone would give you a arm full of the pink (or orange) juice to release you of your pain? Making the call to do it is the toughest thing to do.
Try to find a vet that will come to your house. Its better than having to make the trip to the Vet Hospital.
And don't you deny a dog in athe shelter that needs your help somewhere by going dogless. You will grow to love that dog too in time.
You are not a person that should not have a pet around.
And om sorry to Seth Gator that is going through this with his dog also.
I
Sorry you're having all this pile on you.
It's a tough time as we all know to well, just remember "it was better to have than to have not".
Valley Fever (prevalent to the SW) has now seeped into his bones and he can’t walk real good right now and is back paw is folded up.
It’s very sad to see and my heart is just freaken crushed as just a month ago he could still run. I’m just numb that I have to do it so soon after Mojo.
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone and their kind words—it means a lot, and some of you I’ve known for years and its good to know there are still good people on here that I consider my friends.
Thanks,
Gary
