...if Stewart doesn't make it back, that is. I was looking at the times, and only Short was kinda close to Dungey's lap times. Where's Brayton from? What are his "home" tracks? Is he an easterner? As long as it doesn't rain, Short might be able to snag some wins.

If dungey stays upright, no one will touch him until stewy, reed, villopoto or treynard make a comeback.

Good question. I think at different tracks different riders will step up, but you never know. I was expecting Grant to be running near the front at Colorado but that didn't happen. Metty might get a bit faster at some tracks but Dungey is just on another level.

Hopefully Ratray can come back mid season and put on a good charge, though I don't think he will be on Dungey's level after being out for so long and being new to the 450 class.

I don't know. Can't really think of anyone who could come in and truly battle Dungey other than Stewart. I'm just really hoping Stewart isn't seriously injured. Kind of a bummer that through all of those ridiculously hard crashes in supercross he barely got injured and then he crashes on a flat section in what should have been an easy crash for him and he gets injured. Really sucks.

Brayton is from Iowa, Millville would be closest to a "home track".

I do not think any of these guys can beat Dungey head to head. But if Dungey gets a really bad start or falls someone else may get a moto (or maybe overall) win because Dungey will have the big picture in his head and will do his best to limit the damage and not ride over his head for a win.

Thunder Valley used to be Short's home track, before he moved to Texas or wherever it is he's living now. So, it didn't surprise me to see him the closest to Dungey. I was hoping some home track advantage might get some of the other guys close. Dungey is damn consistent, though (like another thread states), regardless of where he goes.

If Millville is Brayton's home track, that shoots him off my list...it's Dungey's, too.

If Stewart doesn't return, Dungey will win every remaining round with room to spare at the end of each race.
I'll even go as far as saying, if Stewart didnt show up at all this season, and with the current list of riders out there, he would most likely have had a perfect season.

that is debatable, one bad start (back of the pack) or early moto crash and you can kiss 24-0 goodbye... I do expect him to win every round Stewart doesnt race, and if Stewart returns I want to see Dungey win straight up, more than once.

Dungey finished 3rd in the first moto of the year.

If Alessi would stop looking back - he might be able to pull a holeshot and leave. BUT - he seems to be looking for daddy at every turn. Short could do it - he just needs to believe he can. Brayton doesnt know what he has and wont till he loses it

That in itself means no disrespect to all the others, as racing's racing and she's tough.
However, it's their choice, the riders, to be out there racing in the 1st place.
And again, no disrespect to any, but several on Factory Bikes just aren't getting it done.
Several on Factory Bikes aren't taking advantage of the best year all together for taking advantage.
If ever there was a year to better themselves from SX to the current MX series now's the time.
Call me or my opinion what you will, but results are all there is at the end of the day.
And it's contract time too.
Do they, the above mentioned have pressure on them, yes.
But that's the nature of the beast and those in management know the tale of the tape at the end of the day.
Again, if ever the time was right to shine a light on one self now's the time and those few really need to seize
the moment for themselves.
Results matter more than just a name.
Good luck guys!!
Onto the next 1.

I've seen some improvement in Weimer. I know he is one of the more love him or hate him kind of guys but he definitely seems to be getting on TV more often. . . I'd like to see him get at least one overall to see what it would do to his confidence. It seems like the confidence is amplified with him. When he's down, he is way down and when he is up, he is ready to rub elbows regardless of who it is.

These riders have improved from last year and seem to honestly want it. Not sure if that means they will be able to step up to Dungey though, but they are our best bet.

- Millsaps had it going pretty good, then that crash at Freestone and a couple major life events happened. I never count him out though.
- Weimer's results are way up from last year, and he really seems to be enjoying himself out there. I like the happy Weimer.
- Izzi can hang. If he can be consistent (went 5-5 in Co), results and more speed will come.
- Alessi just seems to rely heavily on his starts. Yeah, I know he PASSED 30 riders in Co. But the only time he sees Dungey is if he starts ahead of him. No discredit because he is FAST. Just that he tends to concede to a few top riders when they come up behind him.
- Metcalfe is always solid. But I'm afraid he falls into the "factory rider not getting it done" category. If you followed his career trajectory, he should be winning a few races per year now.
- Tickle. Should he be on this list? After outdoors last year I considered him "supercross only", not any more. Glad to see him get a 3rd the last moto. Hopefully that builds confidence in his bike and his riding.
- Short. I want him to be up front. Lets hope he can remain factor as the series heads away from TX and CO.
- Brayton. Lets hope he gets stronger as the series moves East. He is a technical rider, admittedly not prepared for outdoor speed. I feel like of all he riders, Brayton has the most potential but also the most at stake (Honda factory ride).
- T. Hahn - glad to have him back and he's looking really goo.....ah crap.
- Ratray. TBD.
- Josh Grant and the rest. These guys need to go fast so it makes the above guys go faster.
- 250 riders fill in on 450s? I can only think of Seeley who might even be available when he comes back.

This is a solid assessment, especially on Alessi. When he gets pressured, he starts riding defensively and it's all over for him.

My gut feeling tells me that Dungeys bike is going to steadily improve as each race goes by, compare this weekend to Hangtown, (where the rear of the bike looked sketchy at best) and now with RC on a KTM, who knows?? Laughing

Lets all just hope that James wrist isnt as bad as it looked/seemed.
