Frossard will be back this weekend at Fermo, apparently he has just a small knee ligament distension.
And CP, if he prepares physically (and his bike), can be extremely fast and solid in deep sand (for sure, technically he knows very well how ride this type of track) remenber Lierop 2006.
This year the Lierop race, four weeks before the mxdn, will be very interesting.
France with mx1 Paulin, mx2 Musquin, mx3 Frossard or Pourcel, would be a real contender for the win. With Dungey (mx1), the best american 250 rider of the outdoor or Osborne (mx2), Barcia (mx3) and three weeks for prepare, the USA stay one of the favourite and maybe even the main favourite.

Yes they can, RV wasn't going to beat AC or probably even Herlings in Lommel anyway... but the three riders are consistent enough to get the job done, and if AC or Herlings fall or have problems they can win races too.

Swap RV for Stewart.. and you guys are fine... in fact Stewart may be faster in the sand than RV, he may be able to run with AC and Herlings..it's just if he can stay on at that pace lol

USA have the strongesty team.
France would have been good but Pourcel isn't as quick as Frossard in the sand. Belgium will be solid too if they get to bring their A team.
Italy would be good if their MX2 guy was better in the sand.
Holland dont have three top riders who can win.
GB will have a solid team.. but on paper the US should win again with consistency.
Germany could be the dark horse... Nagl and Roczen are good in the sand and Schiffer is pretty quick too.

Really? How can you say that, haven't seen a fast American at Lommel. You assume just because your riders look fast, they will win or they are better at sand. In fact you don't know, that is why we race.

AC could not beat Short at the 2010MXON. and although Roczen passed Short, in the race last weekend, Roczen could not beat Short and he was right behind him (True Roczen had not ridden a 350much but Short comming back from injury)

So you don't know.

So in answer to the question, can the US repeat? Yes they can, but will they? We will have to watch the race and see.

As far as bench racing, AMA riders have always been faster riders, only exception is Everetts who was on par with RC. There have been a few french that have come over here and beat us but they were then AMA riders, But other than that the fastest riders are AMA

Pourcel beat Cairoli at Lierop in 2006 and Paulin won the MX2 class at Lierop in 2010 with Musquin second.
Musquin has won in Lommel too.
They got the skills allright.

(I am referring to Barcia when he was riding a 250.) Neither of them won or had any type of results to really shout about. Proving that outdoors is a whole different ball game, also look at MA 800, always been a outdoors specialist.

The reason us "Euros" think that the Americans will not be as competitive as recent years in the deep sand of Lommel is that your only sand race is not even on the same level as Lommel, no where near as deep. It is nothing like the real sand tracks of the GP series. Just ask any Americans who have come over to race the GPs.
