I think that the turning was better in alive as well as the sounds. Reflex had much better body positioning when jumping. When I played the Stewart compound and the bike handled like a canoe would jumping. I was pissed. No matter what the bike transitioned poorly compared to reflex on jumps. Only if......

All the alive fanboys want to lead you to believe the game is good, but its the biggest flop out of the mx vs atv series, just look at the sales. I would like to ask triton if he thinks alive is better than Reflex? back to MUD i will buy it anyway and just ignore all the BS part of the game. Career mode, new tracks and official brands will get me by for now, if it ever comes out in the USShocked
Right, because fuck good physics, graphics, and racing. Screw the fact that I can control my bike and rider independently to have a unique style to my riding and more control. I'm just going to ignore the part where I paid $40 for the game, it came with all real brands for gear, and for the $20 gap I can buy every real brand of bike I'd like. I'd rather have my pixels arranged in a Honda logo when I first procure the game, I'd rather have a points series that I'll play 4 times (because the rest of the racing will be done online). So it doesn't matter if I simply push "X" on the way up to a jump to perform an animated scrub that will give me a "boost" upon landing, or the fact that I flat track around every corner - I've got brands and a virtual points paying series from the get-go.

Your logic is terrible - is that a picture of you in your avatar?

I don't give a damn if what I'm riding is called a Tampon450 - as long as it looks like a motocross bike and makes me feel like I'm riding one, I'd be perfectly find with a little string tailing me everywhere I went.

Chances are, if you don't like Alive it's because you didn't spend time learning how to play it well. I blame THQ, in part, for that because they made learning the game a really horrible experience with having to loop the same tracks a thousand times and upgrading your bikes painfully slow. But the only people that don't like Alive are the ones who suck at it, and if you say it's because the game sucks - you clearly haven't thought that out either. This game isn't won by glitch boosting by landing in a wheelie (ie: every other MvA game), it's actually good, hard racing.

I'm sure that's why MotoX85's little ankle biters don't like the game. I imagine they wouldn't care too much for Forza either.

I just watched the gameplay videos on the website... it looks and sounds really bad. You might as well save the cash and go pop in Untamed, because that's what it looked like.
my thoughts exactly.

It's far more moto related than half the shit that's in this section.

I agree with Dirt Dawg.

As for the whole Reflex vs Alive thing..... the stupid hand gestures are all I need to say to put that argument to rest. The only thing gayer that they could have added would be Ralph Sheheen.

We put the Alive away after about a week and went back to playing 30 lap moto's of Reflex. A ton of fun figuring out suspension settings for the massive track wear. We so wish they could have expanded upon that.

The hand gestures can be turned off easily in settings. I'd play Reflex if I could play it online, they never got the issues on their PS3 servers figured out.

I am gonna buy MUD from the UK and get it sent over here, just because they have a career mode and full licenses. Two of the most important things for me. Season/career modes lead to infinite replay-ability for me

Let me guess. You were getting beaten, couldn't ride clean fast laps and kept trying to use 2 sticks? Let go of your mx vs ATV mentality and take it as something completely different, some parts suck and scream general population arcade shit, but the core racing of it is fun. I can't wait for the career and better tracks and to rude herlings bike.

Jmo of course. That's the point of a demo Smile

your welcome for that little tip on getting the mud demo... but, you seem to like it a little more then i do.. lol

as far as mx games go... ive said it before, and ill say it again.

you take MX vs ATV unleashed, polish up the physics and graphics, add a legit rut system, maybe breaking bumps or chop exiting corners... and add a scrub system that isn't a canned animation... weekly, cheap DLC tracks... and a rock solid online... maybe add a ranking system similar to MCM2, where you ran the number you have earned..I'd never even consider playing another MX game. One can dream!

Tip? I went to the ps3 store and it was there ready for me. Yay for being in aust Smile

Burba, make an account that's for aus or Europe and you'll be able to get the demo from the store.

That's a bit skewed, Reflex has been out almost 3 times as long, I'd also argue that the tail dropped off Alive because of the lack of support from the publisher. Either way I think I Alive did somethings great and somethings not so great. I also think the players never got the full experience and what was coming down the pipe that would have made it what it should have been. THQ picked the name "Alive" as a way to communicate that it would be a living title. It was born but then dropped.

Personally, I like the scale changes in Alive compared to Reflex. I think if SX would have been there a lot of views would be different. It still baffles me why the most popular mode in the game was kept out. But that's all water under the bridge now.

If anyone is going to be at the Seattle SX, I'll be cruising around the pits saying hi to those I know. And for now I will continue playing COD and Forza (I love beating guys in my lifted Ford Raptor while they are in their race cars Smile )
I really think Alive was near perfect for physics and scale/ratio (rider/bike/track/jump height/jump distance). It was really, really good. As hard as I tried, it is really, REALLY hard to complete a clean quad on one of the Sx tracks. I really think there was massive potential there, and hopefully someone picks up the rights and the code for that game and creates a new game or expands. It is really sad to see something with MASSIVE potential just get blown away.... like dust in the wind.

Never going to happen, sorry. I wish I was wrong, but there is just not enough of a market for EA to even consider it.

I thought the realistic scale was much better as well.

Has it ever been let out what exactly was coming down the pipe? I've heard it talked about but never any exact comments. I would think with the studio being shut down it wouldn't matter what was disclosed.
