Assuming one races every weekend for 10 years, 10 x 52 = 520 times raced in that span. Now in 5 months, let's see; 30days/month x 5 = 150, so in order to get the requisite 520, divide 520 by 150 days, which is roughly 3.5, so it's doable. might be a bit sore, but totally doable.
Verdict. 4 wheels are dead boring. No matter how fast you go, you get used to it very quickly..and thats it..zzzz. It's a distant 2nd to mx for the buzz factor. I didnt bother after the kart race, thankfully.
natural talent in that game seems to mean more than driving ability.
There is a very credible thoery, with plenty of stats to back it up, that it takes 10,000.00 hours of practice to truly master anything.
The mx guys that are currently winning in that sport compliment Ricky, but have also said him ever winning a cup race is about as likely as any of them winning a SX.
That sport's getting a lot like amateur mx, they spend their lives on 4 wheels and get into full sized cars years before they can get a drivers license.
RC or James starting this late & winning at that level would be something equivalent to what MC done having a relatively late start and the two of them weren't even that in their own sport.
I do think riding a motorcycle makes you a better driver, look what the mx guys are doing there but James will have a much easier time trying to make up the time he's lost in his mx career than he ever would the lifetime he's missed on 4 wheels.
I got to take a few laps in a friends asphalt late model that was said to be "slow"
I came away understanding that even in a slow car you have a whole lot more motor than you do tire and I can see why there's a huge learning curve there.
Travis Pastrana, or any other american for that matter, have never been able to do much more than watch the WRC elite in awe. The SCCA rally that competes state side is more like local club racing when compared to the WRC
Pit Row
Stewie cant be relax long enough to keep his bike on its wheels for 20 laps how is he supposed to keep a car on a track for a few hours?
I do recall a deal where Moto GP rider John hopkins got a chance to drive a formula one car.. sharp learning curve but I think he was able to throw down some decent laps bye the end of 1 day in the car. If i remember.... he came within a couple of seconds of a competitive lap time in a car on his FIRST day. Either way Hopper is an excellent mx rider as well and I can bet a handful of cash there isn't a single nascar driver that could ever go to MX and even get a pro liscense let alone be competitive. Given the right opportunity I think a pro MX racer could be competitive in a car with little training.
After all... for 400 bucks a soccer mom can go drive 160 mph and turn left at one of them driving schools....
Here's the ones I can think of right off the top of my head
Ricky Carmichael
Michael Jordan
Travis Pastrana
Shaun Palmer
This is not to be confused with someone who played both sports their entire life, and did both of them professionally. Deion Sanders and Bo Jackson were both amazing athletes, but they weren't a top guy in both sports. It was one or the other. Still an amazing achievement to do what they did though.
Although I've never skated or snowboarded so I can't be sure how similar they are, I think what Shaun White has accomplished should put him in the conversation of greatest athletes of all time. To dominate snowboarding the way he has, and on top of that get some gold medals in skateboarding, that to me is astonishing.
The top athletes in every sport have the following things (in no particular order):
1. The opportunity. A huge part of it, especially for expensive sports like MX.
2. The dedication. This is my point in saying why it's hard to switch sports. You're going up against others who have spent years training for their sport, much like you've done in yours. Now you're jumping into the fire because you were good at some other sport.
3. The talent/potential. You have to be an amazing athlete to be at or near the top of any sport. Just because you were an awesome MX racer (RC) or basketball player (MJ) doesn't mean you switch sports and are going against nonathletic people.
Jordan and Carmichael couldn't even get to the elite level of baseball or car racing, and both were by far the best in their sport. However, the marketability, as some have previously mentioned, is why teams gave Jordan a contract, and why a team gave Carmichael a contract. More so Jordan. He would sell out minor league baseball games based on his name alone.
Before you post Booby, you should test what you are about to say for it's Bullshit content.
He could surprise us but then again the world ends on 12/12/12/ so why bother pretending? Both are about as likely.
What's a "shitload" of money? How do you know this?
better than factory??? Are you trying to say the factory Honda, Kawasaki and Suzuki bikes are not as good as the Yamaha put out by Gibbs?? LOL
You choose to constantly hate on James, and I choose to show how fucking stupid you are sometimes. No biggie, just deal with it, and don't be so fixated on my crotch you weirdo.
