Branson National to Nebraska?

Edited Date/Time 4/7/2012 4:35pm
I recently spoke with a promoter about the possibility of the Branson National moving to the Abbot MX Park here in Nebraska.

Just curious if anyone else has heard anything about this?

I haven't heard it but they would do a lot better if they just left the NMA out of it and ran one the same week. Both would be close to the same distance for me and I would never go if it was an NMA event. I went to college in Springfield and I went to Branson once and that was enough to never go back. I went to Ponca once and that was enough to never go back. I am going to Ponca this year though BECAUSE the NMA is gone. They are terrible, just run a big race if you can get the support. The NMA and that crap hole of a track they call a national at Branson are a joke.

Where the old sugar beet factory was, off Newport.

that would be sweet but I don't see that facility being able to host an event that large. The facility is awesome and is owned by the city so they may be interested in bringing in some big money!!

They are redoing the whole Ponca track and that is long overdue as it the same layout as when we built it back in 1974 and it has only has had small changes. I will see it later this month and take some pics and post them. I am glad Ron Henrickson is gone as with the NMA, they put on a good race back in the late 70s and most of the 1980s but it dropped off so maybe with the new track in Norman this year they will do more for the riders and put some effort back into how they do business.

Been riding at Norman this winter, sure seems like the crew there is out to make it a great national this year. The folks at
Abbott have a ways to go to get ready for a national. Parking would be one thing, I don't see enough space, let alone any hookups. Fun track, hope I can get better before the 15th, first qualifier for me.

I also have seen where MX Sports and RPM have teamed up to put on a new fall National in Duquoin,Illinois. It is aimed to take on or replace Branson as well. Building a new track on the back side of the state fairgrounds so facilities will be top notch for parking and hookups.

Also heard the Duquoin Ilinois State Fairground will be the replacement race.

My Grandads friend helps run the Fairgounds and the track is there already.

If they are going to put a National track in Illinois, it should be Sunset Ridge.
But the thing that REALLY makes me sad, is that the FARM MX (Indianola, IA) is closed. It would be a perfect venue for a National.

I went to what I think was the last race at the farm. It was the first time I had been there. It was a fun track but it wasn't crazy awesome like you guys are talking about.

I agree , Sunset Ridge would be the place, that is our home track and awesome.

As far as more info , I know RPM did a press release already but it did not have alot of details.
