Last week at Budd's Beasley said if we see a flagger texting or on the phone come tell him. Never heard that before.
Saw the same thing the week before at Budds. Kids on their phones.

This is my point, every time it seems the flaggers have ZERO training. And if promoters are getting flaggers with the track, much like track prep is included, then that is just a piss poor way of trying to wash your hands.

I wouldnt shoot him, or punch him. there are plenty of flatbillers in the pala parking lot that are much better candidate for a beating, on principle.
This is probably true. Some money needs to be spent on flaggers!!!!!!!!

This is exactly why the Brett Downey Safety Foundation exists. www.mxsafety38.org/They train track owners, promoters and flaggers.

Was the promoter using flaggers with proper training?

Yeah Xeno my friend was racing at Elsinore the same day and the Brett Downey Guy was there working with their flaggers. Maybe he should have went to Pala instead! They are volunteer so I guess they can't be at all the races every weekend.
I believe that was the Mammoth qualifier last Sunday at Elsinore? I'm glad to hear that the Brett Downey folks were there- hopefully the training has already prevented a pile-up.
Like you said, I think it's a volunteer/non-profit group so it's good to support races that support www.mxsafety38.org.

WOW...the flagger/water person on the next blind jump. He had to stop watering and pick up the yellow flag so he could walk slowly to the scene. PLEASE place the flaggers so the racers can see a yellow flag prior to launch.

What will it take for amateur motocross to take flagging seriously? There is no other sport I can think of that so flagrantly ignores basic safety. it's stupid- and sometimes makes me wonder why I ever promoted this sport as something that kids should be doing.
I've been suiting up to take to the track on a national level track and heard them trying to recruit flaggers over the PA. Flagging is nothing but an afterthought in this sport.

You've flagged for tracks a lot, I imagine-right?
I can't speak for MSM but this might also include him.

I've flagged quite a few races including AX (those are tough). No, I have no formal training, I'm not a "PRO" flagger. I read, I pay attn, and I attend the riders/flagger meetings. I've never been paid a dime. What made me quit? Well I would think a simple "Thank You" would have sufficed (did I spell that right).

I will say from first hand experience and a "Guy who ran an MX track for 4 years!!"........If I saw my flaggers ever asleep at the wheel like that.....they would of been looking for a new job in the morning!

Before you say "what?"........The track I ran was open 7 days a week. We opened at 9:00am - closed at 9:00PM ( unless it was a special event......could of been 12:00am ) My flaggers were employee's of the track. While I was building the track with the Cat and little 277 , they were picking up rocks , moving banners , watering....you name....they did it. I put in a lot of effort and time ( sometimes 60-70hrs a week ) running that place....and the flaggers job was extremely important. I myself flagged at the head tower and started and stopped each class. I KNOW how important that job is......because I have fallen victim to dumbshit flaggers at other tracks.

i just dont get why they cant have one or two guys who know what there doing teach alll the inexpirenced guys what to do and show them where to stand because in the middle of a step down a rider isent going to see the flag at our snocross track we have one guy who teaches the new people what to do and if they are doing something wrong your gonna get yelled at and at our tracks the injuries have gone down because of that just need to train them and have a system
