Bobby, if anything, you provided support to those who want to bash Bubba...
He got caught up in the entourage and all the "yes" men instead of staying true to his sport...
My opinion and I know it may not be popular...
Build a house and ya gotta live in it.
He needs to go train in Russia with Jaroslav Falta on a CZ for 6 months.
Also...I wanna see Stewart riding live when I'm going to the final in las Vegas !
Pit Row
But I think all those crashes are starting to plant a few "doubt" seeds in his head, along with some bike set up issues which he may not have 100% confidence in, to pull off the magic that only James seemed to be able to get away with in the past. He's getting to the age when you slam the ground instead of bounce and as anyone who is over 30 and raced from younger years to late 20's or later (props to the die hards still going!!) will know that feeling when you start to realise your not invinceable. Repeated hospital trips will help that along.
Tt's not hard to tell which are the Aldon years there too. His slimmer face looks just the way Villo's does now. Just say'in.
Great vid BTW. Makes you want to see him come back just the same way Chad did.
I think if he had a little more money growing up, he'd have more championships now. Why? Because he accomplished everything that he set out to do. He came from barely making ends meet to a millionaire, 2 time SX and 1 time MX champion. After he won MX in 08, there was nothing more to win. Sure he could have pursued more championships and stayed as dedicated as he was previously, but I believe somewhere in the back of his mind he thought, "There, I did it, I've won every championship that I can possibly win" and then eased up a bit on his training, riding, and every other aspect that goes into racing. If you set your goals and you reach them, then it's hard to keep pursuing anything more. Yeah Ricky did it, but Ricky was a different breed of rider and I don't think he came from rags to riches like Stewart (or at least I've never heard about it).
Stewart being black isn't as big of a part of it (to me anyway) as the media likes to make it out to be. There are only a select few dumb asses, like the guys at Southwick in 07, that give a lot of people (especially people new to the sport) that impression. To me, it's more about the fact that his dad busted his ass and gave up riding himself so Stewart could have this opportunity, and Stewart made the most of it.
Ever since that MX championship in 08 was won, he's appeared more mortal each year. Some of it definitely has to do with new talent, but a lot of it has to do with James breathing a sigh of relief before the 09 season. It's like if you're in a class and your goal is to get an A. You achieve that goal, but then there's an opportunity for extra credit to get an A+. It's hard to stay motivated for that A+ when you came so far to achieve that A, which was your main goal all along.
Bobby M your right he has a head problem....a red head problem. I'd say up until that point he had anyone lined up against him (less maybe Brandon Layton) covered in the speed department on a sx track. He knew and so did everyone else. He forced the greats to have to go back to the drawing board and learn how to scub to be competetive. He changed the way the future stars growing up rode, practiced and trained. He wasw no RC in the records books but he did change the sport forever, it will never be the same and now he is feeling the rath of kids that learned his style and know how to handle not only getting beat but also maybe not being the fastest on a given day-
Post a reply to: James Stewart should sit down and watch this
