And you are corect, the US was never founded to BE a Christian country, in fact is was created to be a no religious preferences country. But by that statement, then under no circumstance (or law) should the conference be forced to change their date to accomodate the religious school so they can play and when everybody else want to change based on what they want, there is absolutely not legal way to force them to do it.

And you are correct; There is no legal way to force one religion to respect another religion's customs.

They should just smile and say, "Congratulations for making it to the play-offs in only your second year in the league. To show our respect, we'll go ahead and schedule the elimination game for Saturday night, so all of your efforts won't be wasted."

BTW, if we went all the way back to the Stone Age we'd be better off than the Middle Ages.

I appreciate/respect the people at the school's convictions. I think the basketball organizing body should change the day of the game.

Oh, and last thing MotoX85, They did not demand the game be changed, they did not threaten to sue if it wasn't, they simply requested. What is wrong with that?

I am not religious and agree with diversity but if you are going to come to a country, or stay in a country founded and established on a certain culture and religious beliefs than don;t try to change that to fit your agenda. Go to a country or culture that believes and worships like you do. If I like playing X-Box, I am not going to hang out with Playstation people and force them to observe my X-Box time. If Budhism, Muslim, whatever Spanish, German etc. is what you want to worship and those are the ways you want to live your life. Move to the area that those things are the cultural norm. If you want to stay here, adapt to the culture and society that is in place.
While i am in agreement with your rhetorical statement, the Sabbath day goes all the back to creation, and I respect people who make a commitment to honor God in that.

Texas huh? My guess is that most of these Texas teams are Christian teams and pray before the game. They probably pray for strength and endurance.. Probably don't pray for tolerance though. They might lose. Jesus wants them to win.

Really all they would have to do adjust the time by a few hours. Doesn't seem like that big of a deal. I am sure this happens all the time in other places.

So, if this is pursued through legal channels and goes all the way to the Supreme Court, and the high court decides that something like this must be accomodated, will AMA Regionals end up having to run on Mondays-Wednesdays to include jews, christians, and muslims?

Well, I'm positive Yaweh would be pissed if they played a basketball game on the Sabbath. I hope they're supporting Exodus 35:2, as well. That's when the fun starts!

Friday and Saturday is a pretty common time for tournaments. The fact is, they shouldn't have entered and expect the everyone to change for them. I think UIL rules allow for Friday and Saturday, with no play on Sunday. In all reality, they could do the tournament and then make Sunday their Sabbath. Or fast and pray for a miracle.

Heard on the news last night, some of the players parents got a restraining order for the game not to be played. It was then rescheduled for today (daylight) and tomorrow night if they win.

It was a parent that sued not the school.

The school and the coach had accepted not playing in the entire deal and didn't even have the kids practice.

With that said, it's high school and I don't see why having them start at a different date really hurts anyone.

My son played Hockey on Christmas Day. One of his coaches thought he was God even, told us how religious he was and how he was going to make our kids better citizens. He still had them play on Christmas day.

It's not even a different date. The game on Friday just had to be moved from 7 pm to 2 pm, and the game on Saturday just has to be after sundown.

This is why I have a problem with this:

SO MUCH FOR ASKING!!!!

Bunch of whining ass babies, tie up the conference schedule with legal delays and costs in an attempt to strong arm TAPPS into changing dates and times (which worked) when they knew of the conflict a year ago is absolute BS.

I guess in the end God chose their path..................THEY LOST!!!!!!

And to answer your question. We chose our sport from the begininig and know the rules when we started. We chose MX, any other conlficts is tough shit. In fact we just NOT went to a three day tournament so we could go practice down south for a week. At no time was it a thought to make them change their schedule.
