2009 CRF 450 cdi?

my 450 will not kick start but fires up if bumped and will not idle is this a cdi problem? It has a new fuel pump.

Just put new intake valves in it 3 weeks ago and they are in spec

How is the compression? Did you put a new piston and ring in when you did the valves? The symptoms sound like low compression. Another thing I just thought of, did you install the cam right? If it is advanced one tooth it will be really hard to kick like too much compression, sounds like it could be retarded one tooth though.

Could be a whole list of things, is the light flashing a code on your kill switch? If so count the # of flashes and head back here!

what he said..timing is off. Go by the mark on the flywheel for TDC and adjust the cam from there.

The light stays on when it is running? If that is the case, that isn't right, it is supposed to come on when it first fires, then go out. I have the factory service manual from when I had an 09, I will look and see if it says anything about it staying on. I thought it only flashed if there was a problem.
