When I watched the press day video, I noticed the berm looked to be pushed back 5-10 feet more than normal (maybe it's the wide screen, camera angle, or lack of sleep). If this berm is pushed back, it would make going wide and railing the berm a little slower than normal, since riders would be traveling a greater distance. It would also encourage riders to develop a rut around the inside of the corner (the modification to the right side of the triple leading before the finish line seems to indicate this). If this is the case, maybe we will see the inside line returning to supercross racing.

Watch the video to get a better look: http://www.racerxonline.com/2012/02/10/racer-x-films-san-diego-track-pr…

That type of turn would make avoiding a block pass impossible. Unless you hugged the inside very tightly.

That is definitely not your 'standard' turn. Great place for block passing ... only problem I see is that you are going to have riders going two different directions in the same patch of ground .. could be exciting ... could be ugly ..

Good placement too right before the finish. So I guess it looks more open to you too?

While we are discussing turns. Does anybody miss the flat corners we saw during the 2010 season? I remember Vegas, Atlanta, and Indianapolis having a few. Riders would either go wide without a berm to ride and triple, or hug the inside. I thought they made for some great racing.

I miss proper berms...

The whole Goerke put his bike in the stands is such bullshit, they've got insurance and don't fill the first 10 rows anyways!!

If I could fix supercross I'd:

1. Bring back the berms,

2. Bring back long lanes with alternate rhythm sections inside and ou

3. Make the races 20 mins plus two laps

4. Stop making boring twisty tracks

I think that eliminating blocking was a good idea with the triple right after it...

This is awesome, in the video the jump after is a triple, but the inside lip is cut down a couple feet for a single double so an inside line would actually be really fast!

I don't think that will be a single double, looks like a wheel tap rather than a triple to me, seems to far out of even the inside for a single

Exactly. I hope that line develops during the race. I love seeing guys do multiple lines through corners, rhythm sections, etc. Even if it was slightly slower, maybe Dirt Wurx could put some dirt between the first and second lip (where it would be flat like a tabletop) where guys could wheelie/manual onto the flat part and double out. That would speed it up a bit.

I think it makes the corner 2 lined...the inside is so much shorter it makes it worth it.

My bet is on Villopoto railing that all night. Or pivoting the way inside like Monster Mountain at the MEC.

If they really wanted to fix sx they would do what one of the guys in the industry has come up with...not name dropping but this is brilliant. imo

Make real works four stroke 250s for a class that you can only get into if your a past champion of anything
smaller class with the kings opens the track up more, makes the main show more exciting if kdub doesnt have to fight through 16 guys that are slower than him to get 4th. Not to cut on kdub but he has the speed of these other guys just hasnt had the luck forr starts WHICH is what the sport has turned into

Split lites class up into 2 450 series east and west so guys could run more reliable bikes cheaper

make this sport like f1.....the 450 pro class is too fast for these small stadiums period

I like what the boys from dirt wurx did here with this corner. Yes it opens up places for block passes, but its one corner in one race of a long series of corners to come

I like it.

In a perfect world, you would have more than one line, and they would be about the same speed.

In a perfect world.

The corner before whoops is a copy of Reed/Stewart corner in Atlanta.
