EFI or Electric Start

EFI is also safer because carbs rely on gravity in order for the gas to get around and in some unfortunate situations when you jump if the gas in the tank goes up to suddenly, the bike will die in mid air. EFI injects the gas so theres no problem on weather or not gas is getting through.

Only people who haven't used estart would ask what's the point. That doesn't mean you abandon a kicker, but there are times when your position is such that kicking is awkward if not impossible. The trade offs are different for a two-stroke track bike, granted.

It really depends on the bike you have, I guess.

My 525 has very little jetting issues over that elevation range. I'd rather push a button when I'm stuck on a nasty hill. I've killed it in situations where you had damned well better keep moving and had the bike restarted in the time it takes to pull in the clutch and push the button. 525/450 4 strokes don't bump start like a 250 smoker. If I had a 250 smoker, I might come to a different conclusion given the differences.

Not saying EFI is a bad idea.

Or when you're riding around the surface of the Earth at 98,462mph. Yeah, you're going fast enough that you start to get airborne without jumps because the Earth is curved- it even happens when going over water. Hate it when the bike dies in situations like that.

Or when you're going over a really big hill, like Mt. Everest, and you jump for like a mile and a half. Man, that zero gravity stuff always gets my bike dying from fuel starvation.

This one time at band camp....

Damn skippy. Last night my friend was so excited to fire up his '01 yz250f for me. The bike has always been sweet. He wanted to start riding it more. It would not crank. He was sweating. His '08 KTM 450SX was next to it on the stand. I pused the button. It cranked.

I find it incredible that all 2 stroke guys have not been in the precarious situation where either they are on the side of a jump/hill or spanning something that make if nearly impossible to actually get to the kick start.

Maybe the real answer would be to put a kick start on both side of the bike?
I have been stuck on the side of a hill in Baja with a drop off that made me shit my pants because I had to kick my CRF450 over. I got the ES KLX450 just for that situation. Not a hero anymore.

I believe youre a bit off. According to my calculations you have to be going aproximately 98,462.9847689472943745 mph for the engine to bog. And my bike only dies when about 3/4 way through the FMX ramp I buitl from earth to the moon. I put this special heavy fuel in it so I was barely able to pull off a quadruple backflip off Mount everest.

Two different bikes. The KLX is more chuggable. The CRF hits which sometimes on single track is screwed. The handling of the KLX is actually quite good on tracks which surprised me. I have not been on anything for awhile though as I am healing. Will be able to ride in Oct. I hope. Did you ever get that linkage?

EFI.....who cares ! i mean really , how many people notice the difference? only a very VERY small amout of people that buy bikes will ever ride them to their full limit. ( maybe 1%? ) the average rider including me would prefer electric leg anyday. trust me - when your thumper REFUSES to start or you are just to damn tired to kick anymore .....1 press of a button and bingo was his name-o ! too easy ! bet not many think about the wonders of all this efi rubbish when they have been kicking their bike non stop for twenty minutes ......

I thought I was the only one that did that.

Of course, I'm doing it with a 2-stroke and kicking it (once), but it sure is damn funny.

I'd take the starter off of my street motard to save weight if it had a kickstarter.

And ES on 2 strokes? WTF that is so stupid.

Now FI has real possibilities for better mpg, lower emissions, more hp, etc...

So FI all the way.
I wouldn't have minded on electric start on my bike at Last man standing, Sometimes its the difference between making it up the hill or falling back down. Especially when your tired. On an mx track I don't see why you would need either
