Probably one of the biggest shames in modern motocross is the fact that James never raced the MXDN on a 125...

Villopoto and Roczen have probably been the craziest on a 250F. Their riding at various MX of Nations has shown that.

I am Ken Roczen's biggest fan, but I can say without a doubt that the things James Stewart did on his KX125 were mindblowing and I don't think we will ever see that again unfortunately.

Lets get off the KR JS battle. Who cares?
All I know is that watching a Sit Down Model (450) idle around a track sucks (in comparison).

I`ve been looking for a video where Stewart jumped the whole set of whoops in to the corner to overtake somebody. He was still on Kawasaki then.

I wonder if anyone has that video of james jumping that huge quad after a triple at one of the rounds in either 2002 or 2003.. I might have it on vhs I'll have to look sometime. Shit was crazy though! No one in the 250 or 125s were doing it. and no it wasn't vegas.

I came across video from anaheim 1 in 2003... talk about a bad ass track...

Team Green had a track day at our place and we added what we thought was 10-12 seconds a lap to the track. I picked out a fast guy to time, and ...no change. "They're cutting the new section" I thought. I hauled up top to check, and no, it was just some kid hauling ass on a tiddler. 259
I never thought at the time that I'd long for that sound.

Hope this try at embeding works.

ssswwwweeettt. He redefined how to go fast and his technique made "factory riders" look like c class riders.

When you watch him on a 125, you realize that MX has gone from a very "active" sport (meaning body english on the bike) to a "passive" let the 450 do the work sport.
For those who never witnessed RC or JS on a 125, you'll never truly appreciate the essence of MX.
Fucking goose bumps when I would see (and hear) that shit.

The first time I saw James race in person was at Muddy Creek in TN 2001. Mike Brown was there and had just won the national C'ship. Kevin Walker was there on a 250F too. I was so excited to watch Mike Brown race, but on Saturday before the race they had practice and all I can remember is asking my friend "Who is hell is #259?" I was blown away! He was smoking Brown & Walker. To make a long story short, Brown ended up not racing on Sunday. He wouldn't admit it, but he kwew he had no chance at beating Stewart and it would have been embarrassing for a national champ to get beat by a 15 year old. To this day, I have never seen someone go so fast on a motocross bike than James did that day. And yes, I've seen RJ, JW, JMB, DB, RC, CR, RV race in person.

at 2:30 going down that hill, I just sat there and kept rewatching. Anyone who rides can appreciate how fast he is going.

You know, it was not my intention of this post, but reading this stuff has made me more aware of this young man dripping with talent and drive.
I bet he is way harder on himself than any of the dirt bag bashers who hate him.
How can you hate him when you don't even know him?
The dude does exactly what we pay to watch.
I'd rather watch Stewart ride for an hour than any other rider all day.

What about that turn at 1:08? That is simply out of this world, he never backed down on the throttle.

Agreed.

Thanks MX Sports Medicine for posting that video of Stewart at his very best on the 125. At that point in his career, he was in his own league. Watching him flick that bike ... Wow.
