At the risk of being flamed. I don't think I've seen it posted before but has any noticed any similarities? I couldn't say Stewart has to many other things on his mind but I wonder if his mind wanders like TP had said his did. OK Flame on

No, there are no comparisons IMO.

Pastrana got diagnosed with legitimate attention deficit disorder so severe, he could not focus on the task at hand (riding) for 20 laps, and this was AFTER about his 4rd or 5th concussion, SO I HEARD.

i dont know how much truth there is to that though, but i would say it does not sound too far fetched, which is why he started doing something that paid well, which amounts to nothing more than dicking off for a minute or 2 (fmx) highly skilled dicking off.

So pastrana who didn't focus on racing to become the king of FMX is equal to stewart who just doesn't focus on racing.........

I say they are very similar; incredible talent that hasnt equated to lots of championships due to distractions outside the track, and lots of crashing on the track.

C'mon Racer92, how many national titles does it take to equal "lots?" More than 3? But you have a point, they have some similarities, though I wouldn't call outside interests "distractions," particularly in Pastrana's case. That man just wants to have fun on his bike, and figured out that people would pay to see him away from the AMA circus, er, circuits...

Funny part is, it's not too late for James to become the first African American FMX star, lol....

I think what's more realistic than that is to just say he didn't enjoy spending the daily grind in racing. He could definitely stay focused for 20 laps, it's through the seasons and years that got to him.

You can't honestly say that he can't stay focused because of ADD, considering he's a multi-time champion in rally, which I would argue requires way more focus than any sort of motocross racing.

James - 11 LL's titles, 2 125 SX titles, 2 125 National MX titles and the most National wins in the class, 1 Outdoor 450 National title, 2 AMA SX titles, 1 (maybe 2) World SX titles. Sounds like a lot of titles to me. There aren't many guys that have him beat.

ADD is a fictitious disease. That is to say the entire "theory" is based on a "chemical imbalance" that has no test and nobody can put forth any and I mean any real scientific proof that is does exist. BUT people do have different abilities to focus as can be seen by the "Greats". As physical as motocross is, the great champions have an above level mental ability. I mean how many people could show up at an arena with one race left, tied for first and not just commence crapping on themselves. The top guys seemed to be rather un-fazed by it all even if they look a little nervous.
It is above normal, and you couple that with talent, drive and a willingness to train yourself within an inch of your life, you get a champion...usually. Sometimes you have good and bad luck but that is a lessor factor.
Schwarzenegger said in his book that most people are not willing to go through the pain. And it's true, training until you pass out or hurl takes a lot.

It would have been awesome to see Pastrana stay in the 125 class for 3 years instead of 2. Then we'd have gotten to see them battle in the 02 season. I think Stewart beats him for the championship, but at the same time I think Pastrana beats him for some overalls. This would have also given Stewart valuable experience racing with someone of equal speed in his rookie season, something he's obviously struggled with throughout his career.

ADD is ficticious...your f#@%*&...........,theres no chemical inbalance[thats bi-polar] ...........add is attention deficit ...........meaning you lack attention from others ,most importantly ,your parents when growing up ......this is a hereditary disease because its all in the way your brought up and is caused from mostly low self -esteem .........people who have it ,their mind wanders and are always wondering about them selves ....hence the lack of focus ...........people with it usually do stupid shit .........to get the attention they crave ..........J-LAW is a perfect example of a guy with it ........85 % of the people incarerated in the US have it ...........it stems alot from havin no father figure in your life [mine was an alcoholic] ,also a father who puts so much pressure to succeed on you it lowers your self esteem ............look at some of these guys with all the tats .......its for the attention

Maybe they could if they were riding some sweet motorized bicycles...

Really though, how closely do you watch the race? I bet you're not 2% as focused on watching the race as those two are when they actually do race.

What does your point have to do with the fact that James has won many championships and seems to be more than able to focus for 20 laps? That's right nothing.

he seems less and less interested in the sport, I think he needs to get that back on his mind. Just my opinion.

If Stewart has trouble focusing for 20 laps then he's gonna have a hell of a time focusing in a race car for 3+ hours!
