We had to take out a lot of trees, got all the dirt off the site. We didnt have more than 3K in it with rental and fuel. Took about a month from start to finish. Then we would just rent a bobcat 3 or 4 weekends a year for prep. I wish I had a chunk of land now. I would build another in a heart beat.
Track still there? Not too many places to ride around here. Haha.

My parents sold their house back around 02. I talked to my bro about it today. He said the first people that bought it kept and rode on it. Then they resold it. The next people leveled it, guess its a horse pasture now. Which sucks. That was one thing about that state that sucks. Insurance is to strick, and NO places to ride, oh wait, theres Rider Hill, lol. There were a handfull of private tracks though, but they were low key due to insurance reasons. Cant remember his name but I rode one with a friend once down in Middletown? Just south of Barre not far off 89, it was sweet. There was another one over in Jericho too, never got invited though. Move to NC there are plenty down here!

Its upwards of 50k to start from scratch. And that number depends on how much change in the scenery needs to be done. The dirt is what costs the money especially if it is clay. Track design and build can be 15k or better alone, aside from the dirt. 200 loads @125.00 each adds up.

Im spending in Total about 20-25k, I bought 10 acres for 10k, having experience in heavy equipment operations, a couple friends and I are building the track our selves, but just to use the machines, lights, all the plumbing for watering the track, ect. Looking at 20-25k. If I paid a track builder to do it, add another 10k im sure. Loads of dirt is free up here, luckily, so just paying for diesel to get it.

Like others have said, the Peters/Barnett/DreamTraxx fee is about 10-15k depending on how far they have to fly and how long they have to stay at said location to complete the job. Every other cost/expense is site specific.

So many variables.. Do you have to import dirt, does the land need clearing, equipment rentals, etc. I do know the prices have come down considerably from what they were 10-15 years ago as competition has grown.

I recently (last couple of months) had some rough estimates from 3-4 builders on getting a a track built in NC. It's just for the the track build, using dirt onsite, no irrigation/lights/etc, and the estimates were around 10-18k. Which seems like a lot, but for what we spend on bikes, it's not. I have the equipment on the farm, so I may give it a go first, but i doubt i can do it near as well as they can.

I'd say 35-50K is about the standard number per track at one location if you don't include the property cost. And that also depends on the type of track being built.

All of these guys have their own dozer, water truck or system, skid steer, and a tractor. Usually the guys from Dream Traxx/wherever will use the owners equipment and only bring in other equipment if need be.

Up-keep and maintence all depends on what the owner wants to do and what track(s) they are riding each day. Not to mention the practice bike mechanic or groundskeeper pay that does the prepping/bike work/mowing/etc.

So in other words.... A LOT!

But the badass part about these tracks is its like riding something out of a video game. Nothing but fun and it helps to make sense why those guys go so fast.

I had Brandon from Club Mx a few yeas ago build a track for me and it was about $10K. That was when he was starting out, can't imagine how much it would be now if he still did it.

If you want to put it into perspective, I priced having a mini-track built. It was anywhere from $5k-$15k. That was purely for equipment rental and the builders time to design and build. No lights, dirt or watering system. I am fortunate that I have enough dirt, and even for a mini-track the amount needed is a lot. So if you are talking an MX track, just imagine if you are having to have it trucked in. If you are fortunate to have a space with natural elevation and good dirt, it might be more beneficial than a spot that is going to be all man made obstacles. I had lights priced and it was around $10K for 6 spot lights. So it will add up and quickly...

Here is an outdoor track we built for half the cost of what most of you have already guessed.

and another outdoor track in Iowa carving into the natural terrain. This one can be found as Oak Ridge MX in Tama, Iowa.

Kiedrowski had a sx track built in 1994 at his old house for $50,000. That was almost 20 years ago so i'm sure the price has went up.

I'm not a top guy, but when we moved to Georgia in 91, my dad found 18 acres of planted pine to build the house, workshop, and track on. He had the land for the house and for a portion of the track clearcut and much of the woods in between thinned. This was done at no cost to us because they sold the wood for pulp and that money offset the costs of the clearing work. I them laid out a track on my bike through the thinned area and into the rear cleared area. Followed that with a tractor and disc or boxblade we already owned. A little elbow grease and some small berms were made in a couple of the turns. I was also able to push some dirt around for some small, moguls in rougher areas. About 2 weeks later, the guy who owned the 50 acres next door had a trench dug to drain swampy areas off his land into ours. That wasn't going to fly so we convinced him to continue the trench into the swampy area n the back corner of our property. This solved 2 problems... drainage and dirt for jumps. With that dirt and his help (free labor), we built a small AX style track in the cleared area with a couple bowl turns, 2 tabletops, a whoop pad, and a rhythm section. The dirt in the cleared area was a mix of blue clay and lime"stink" sand. The dirt in the thinned area was more sandy and loamy so we just left it natural except where we buried some stumps and that created some small rises and we had some terrain changed in the planting rows similar to big whoops.

Basically, it was a low cost, no cost track that ended up being about 1.3 miles and wide enough for 3 bikes to race together on safely. I'd have liked to bring in more sand to the back area but it worked for what I needed.

Schaefsh, checked out your website, you certainly have built some top tracks. Any chance you could give me a few tips so I can build my own Supercross track ie. track width, whoop height and distance apart etc...

I have the acres, dirt, heavy equipment, time, just not the knowledge. We don't have too many track builders in OZ.

Our sx track... We trucked in 100k of red clay. Cost was 22k per track from the actual builders. Another 15k for a tank and generator and water lines. 50k skit steer, 25k water truck, 15k smaller front end loader, 45k tractor I think a d5 or a typical track size tractor. Land was about 350k. That's close to 600k. Each day of riding, 250$ for a operator 150$ in gas. Each year cost for maintenance is like 40k for everything if you don't go crazy hard on stuff. Having a track is insanity. Later.

I see your track is up for sale. You guys moving to FLA, somewhere else in SoCal, or is this a sign of things to come?
