OK I am not a big desert fan, just never got into it, but Dust to Glory is running this month on Showtime and Encore, so I dvr'd it and watched it last night...All I can say is WOW

What a fantastic movie, it was filmed incredibly and I'm a big Mouse McCoy fan and he was so good in it, just amazing footage, funny, sincere, you have to watch it if you haven't, I think it was almost 2 hours ?? But it went by fast and I will be watching it again soon.

super good movie...especially the end...i never had much interest in baja until i saw that, now thats one race i want to see....

No serious all my buddies at Honda been asking me to go for years and I always declined nicely, now I want to go, just hang out with the crews and check it all out, take it all in, say I went to Baja 1000 ha.

Plus I just didn't know how it worked as far as I thought they did 1000 miles down, didn't realize they go down 500 and come back up, so I learned a lot watching it. I defintely want to go this year and check it out !!

How crazy are them people standing right next to the track ??? I thought people were stupid at Glamis standing next to jumps that Robbie Gordan hits hahahahahaah Man them people in Mexico have no friggin fear lol

they gotta get up close to see the carnage from all the booby traps they set

awesome movie- I've seen it several times. Love it when Mouse tells the same story about five times in 1 pit stop

There is also another Baja 1000 show/movie that shows up on direct tv all the time that is pretty good. I can't recall what it's called, but Cameron Steele is in it and he seems almost like a pretty cool dude.

There is also another Baja 1000 show/movie that shows up on direct tv all the time that is pretty good. I can't recall what it's called, but Cameron Steele is in it and he seems almost like a pretty cool dude.
It also features the Herbst team. It is fun to watch. Both of those are fun movies, especially seeing places you have been and ridden through.

yeah I have heard lots of booby traps are set ?? crazy considering how much we bring to them !! Mouse was delarious for sure ha

I have not been going the last few years because I have seen a shift in attitude of people. They seem to feel they deserve something, maybe it's just me? I have been going since the early 70's regularly.

I've seen some video of past Paris-Dakar races where crowds of people were taken out like bowling pins. Hard to watch.

Yes, that was a cool shot when they bounced off the RV. It is an awesome movie, I have it on DVD and have watched it several times. It was pretty funny when the cops pulled over all the trophy trucks.

If you have the chance go to Baja and take in one of the races DO IT ! There is no telling how much longer they will be around . Things are changing so fast down there and it gets harder every year to put on the races. The movie is pretty true to life about what it looks likes, the feel and the people involved ect.


As far as racing it... I would never recommend someone to enter just to try and finish. It's way too dangerous, so many things can bite you or even kill you and that is just the Trophy Trucks! The course itself while not difficult at a trail riding pace looks a whole lot different at 90 MPH and above and the ground is a lot less forgiving at those speeds too.

Great movie. I wish someone would publicize my buddy, who rode the Baja alone. He's no big name, and his sponsorship is very limited, relatively speaking. That makes it all the more difficult. Oh, and add to that he has MS.

His next personal hurdle will be riding Dakar by himself. He's one crazy, tough guy. Here's his website, if any of you have resources within the motorcycle community and find this story interesting:

Great film.

Funny enough...couple weekend ago...I'm cruising along the high desert on some flat double wide single track at dusk...doing around 40-50mph...start thinking...I bet I look like Mouse McCoy in Dust to Glory...then BAM..hit a washout...rag dolled for 30-40 yards. Luckily my wrist seemed to be the point when I landed on the ground.

I'd be dead in Baja...my brain wanders too much.

I catch myself wandering as well. I have to remind myself to focus often. Its so easy when you have been in the saddle for a couple of hours and you have that flow going. You just start loosing focus of what you are doing. Thats usually when I end up out in the rocks, miles from the nearest road an ambulance could actually drive on.

I was shooting all night Saturday and part of Sunday.Also,I had been off the bike and was in no shape to compete safely anyway, so it worked out.I put all new plastic and graphics,grips,chain and sprockets etc. on the bike and took it back to my buddy who owns it.Gonna take a break for a while.Thanks for asking.

I watched the movie with a few non-moto friends and they talked me into trying it in 2006 (Solo). After 16 hours and 553 miles I was done. Having Robby Gordon pass me at about 80 MPH in the middle of the night on a narrow silty two track was the most terrifying momment of my entire life and I used to parachute into forest fires for a living.
