I know with all the smart opinionated people on here somebody has an answer.

Old fuel motors ran teflon buttons for wrist pin and skirts. Similiar type for bike pistons?

I occasionally dig up an old Elsinore 125 motor that has them in it. Pain in the ass getting them out of that little hole. Which I guess could be a good thing at 12,000 rpm.

I agree. My friend had his kids bike do the same thing and ruined his cylinder. I would think with the automotive racing companies getting in to moto like JE we would see more things like that.

Come on newmann, I KNOW you don't believe that an old CR125 engine will turn 12,000rpm! Tongue

they are unneeded do you see pro racers or their mechanics crying about why there are no spirallocks anymore? Or wait do you see them using them? Yes they are unneeded it is unfortunate when a person that doesnt know how to put a circlip into a piston rebuilds an engine, then have it burn down and try to blame it on the manufacturer! I promise its not the fact that they are no more its the fact that they are unneeded if you know what your doing.
