Here is a video of me doing a lap at perris on a crf450 and a Ktm 250sx. Not looking to start huge debate, both bikes are a blast to ride, I've never seen videos posted of the same rider on the same track back to back like this.

Cool video. It's just amazing how much different the riding style is between the 2 motors.

I know you're not trying to start a debate but the 4 stroke sounds like a trail bike...Evil Seriously though, nice riding on both machines.

you're only using about 15% of that two-stroke. shift it down a gear, keep it finger on the clutch, and rev it out until you see God.

Yea I'm def way faster on the 450, but my 450 fits me like a glove. I only did one Moto on the Ktm, and I have not ridden a 250 two stroke in years. If I spent more time on the smoker I'm sure I could get pretty close to my 450 speed.

awesome video.

i'm a die-hard two stroke guy, grew up racing them and will always love them. finally switched to a 450 a few years ago, and while i love my 450, i kept my 250 because of my love for the riding style. anyway, earlier this year i pulled the 250 out for a day of fun at the track. i was met with disappointment. i couldn't believe how much harder it was to go fast on the 250. the disappointment was from me knowing that i sucked on it, not because it wasn't fun. the bike was super fun, but holy shit i was slow. at one time i was one of the faster guys around on a 250... but the way i rode it, i would have struggled keeping up with a beginner on a 450.

amazing the difference in the two bikes.

I've been doing it since the late 80's....

but you can tell teh sad state of motocross when "riding a two stroke in the powerband" is something that could possibly be doubted in the motocross community.

"omg you turned a 250 two stroke wide openzzzz!!!!!!!! im calling bullshit!!!!"

lol, kids.

You switched to the 2-stroke and it was suddenly as if you'd seen the light. The sky was brighter, the track didn't look as dark....

oh no, i'm definitely still in the market. my 250 is a very worn 2001.

i was just saying i never realized how big of a difference it was. with a little time on a new 250sx i think i could be right at the same speed... but it would definitely be harder

Great videos - Thanks,

It looks pretty clear you're more accustomed to the 450, but I'm sure had a blast on both.

The guys problem is he's still riding the 2-stroke the same as his 4-stroke. He should be carving the inside lines instead of railing the outside lines and taking wide arcs like he does on the 4-stroke. In all fairness, it's hard to jump from one to the other and adjust your riding style so quickly.

Honestly the hardest thing for me to adapt to was the feel of the Ktm, if that motor was stuffed into my Honda frame it would have been a different story. The Ktm just feels different

for 3 years i had 3 bikes , 450, 250f, 250 2str. all yamahas. i race vet a. lap times on all 3 bikes were within a second or so. obviously hilly sandy tracks favour the obvious. one thing i noticed is that i could jump from the 2 str to either 4 str easily. but if i rode the 4 strokes for several rides i would need a full hr on the 2 str to get used to it. cool vid. thanks
