...a lucky few of us witnessed Stroupe go 4-5 through a tricky rhythm section today that would rival bubba's latest quad video. Thanks Stroupie for making our day. Sorry no pics or video...

That kid has some serious talent. Back when HiPoint still had the six pack after the stair steps it was the week after the national at the LL qualifers. The track was rougher than it was for the pros and during the nats the only three guys I saw go triple, triple were RC, JS, and Millsaps but Stroupe was doing it on a 250F and I think he might have still been in the B class at the time. I almost would not have believed it if I had not seen it with my own eyes. I hope he gets it turned around.

He looked really good today. Even when we talked to him he seemed a lot more focused and driven than in the past. I've always grouped him with Izzi as far as talent and results go but today he seemed serious, motivated, and even professional. I really hope to see him inside the top 5 here and there with good starts and being injury free...

Third year racing a 450. He's just crazy enough to go fast.

Wey and Tedesco said on the latest pulp mx show that the problem with yamaha was that you can make it good on your test track but when you come to a totally different track it's like starting from scratch.

the Yamaha seems fine and more than competitive in the GP's and our Nationals, is the bike really THAT different?

Well I have one...

And I don't feel it is any worse than the other japs brands. The -12 kx450 feels way harder to turn that's for sure. But it's all about setup as usual

when the 97 CR came out, mcgrath was bitching, and no one else was. he responded by saying "they just arent on my level".

i think that applies with the Yamaha.

The potential's there with Stroupe, every year there's been flashes of brilliance, there just not frequent enough too make him a serious contender. Maybe 2012 will be the year...

The GP yamaha wouldn't be legal to race in the AMA nationals.

Comparing an OEM bike to a factory bike...Priceless.

No shit easton. "half the gap"? Calm down sparky and please remove that set of balls from your mouth so we can understand what the fuck it is you're trying to say. Jesus Christ this board has some smart mother fuckers on it sometimes.

here is the issue for a top level pro and the yamaha as it is now. its not a bad bike, they will say that. its when you push it to the limits of physics, the bike has a tendency to not do the same thing twice unless you are 100% perfect down to the 1/4 inch of line choice. The chassis is so responsive, that on another bike you make a 2mm change and can feel it, on the Yamaha you make a 1mm change is it really changes it.

So, you spend 3 weeks on a hardpack, baked, So Cal track, you have the bike working perfect. 3 days later you are in a stadium with different dirt, and now you are chasing the bike setup a bit when you push it out to the max. At the test track, it wasnt pushing the front, now it is unless you hit the corner absolutely perfect.

You can ride it all day no worries at a 58 sec lap time, but when you hammer down as hard as you possibly can, hit corners as hard as you can, 100% full tilt what your brain body and right wrist are capable of and get a 55sec lap time, then you push the bike into the zone where it is so reactive it does weird things. Pushes a front for no reason other than you over jumped a touch so the fork is 1 inch lower in the travel when you turn in. Thats the issue as reported by JS, Josh Hill, IT, Hahn... Other bikes you over jump a touch, throw it in the corner and go on, the Yamaha, you dont know what its going to do when you throw it in.

for 99.9999% of the rest of the planet, its a damn good bike! Im a honda guy for 20 years, I liked the 2010 a friend got.

Huh! I thought JH was the points leader after 8 rounds on the Yamaha 450 with 5 podiums in a row and I thought IT got more SX podiums on the Yamaha 450 than the other brands.

I remember riding my friends 1997 cr250 back in the day and that bike was horrible.

Every decent rider could feel how bad it was.

To compare the -10/-12Yamaha 450 with that bike is stupid

Josh hill wasn't on the redesigned yamaha and tedesco result hasn't changed on any brand in the big class
