Come on'...He rode for Ivan's Kawasaki in Muskegon! I think he was 4th in the nation at one point on 125s. I think he kind of fizzled when Kawasaki came out with those crap bikes in early eighties.

Jimmy was ranked 4th in 1979 racing one of those crappy CR125s with the 23" front wheel. I believe he had a Kawasaki support ride in 1980 and mainly rode a KX250. He won a few races local races, but I think his lack or results was due to too much partying and not so much the bike. I think he stopped racing in 1982.

You are right about all the above..including the partying. He had Kawasaki support thru Ivan's Cycle in Muskegon. He was bullet fast. He rode 125s in 1980 and later moved to 250s in early 80's.

I did not know Jim, but I do remember him. I remember the last race at Baja for the 78 season, Jim and Denny Bentley both had 79 pre-production Cr 125"s and they had them for a couple races. ( I think it was there and Stanton) Some of the guy's wonderd how that whole thing worked out because we all thought Bentley had a Suzuki support ride through Holder's. Anyway, they both absolutely ran away with it. Jim in the 125Jr. (my class also) and Bentley in the 125A. I never really ever herd to much about him after that.
I know alot of people did not like that bike, but a friend of mine (Rusty Hibbs) has one in his museum that is all original and has never been started. Trust me, it is something to see.
