Still pretty fast on a track and back at the top FMX wise. Reckon he should do speed and style he'd win that. Before he went full on FMX he was doing bercy every week and was quite fast. Check after the FMX session he pins it on a fire road.

He was a multiple spanish champion on 60's and 80's. His supercross skills were/are unlimited. Rode Bercy and GP's with his KX 125 from 96 to 2001 I believe.

On the Solo Moto Magazine it appeared an interview and told that he declined and offer from Pro-Circuit back in the early 2000's.

He's a great dude and a talented freestyler, without any doubt, the most well known in spain.

Awesome vid. Thanks for posting. I had wondered what had happened to him, as I hadnt really heard much of him since seeing him in Terrafirma 3. Him riding that 125 wide open is so good to watch. He has obviously adapted to the current riding style of scrubbing everything. He definitely has skills on a bike that is for sure. His massive whips still look as good as they did in '96 !!!

That kx125 sounds beastly. I would love to see him compete in speed and style so he can show them how its really done.

The fire road jump was cool!

Thanx for posting that... He still got it!

You know.....I can't help but root for a guy , who takes a long time off and comes back and does well at what he loves. I'm not sure why Edgar stepped away from the sport for so long , but I'm glad he's back. That was a really cool video!

I am not sure 100% but I would say that he was 80cc european champion. I have seen him racing SX and was damm fast, but he decided to be more a showman instead of a racer, easier and give him more money...

he did not stepped away really, just stepped from the international scene, he have been doing freestyles here in Spain, but not taking it too seriously. It all began when the backflip came into scene. Everyone started doing backflips and he took a long time to do it, so he kind of got relegated from the premier freestylers, and that is why you guys in the states didn't get to hear about him anymore

I remember reading that alot of the US guys didnt like competing against him in Europe because he'd always win..but to be honest, his tricks and style were way ahead of the time when FMX got big.

He still have one of the best styles, just he is not doing all the new crazy tricks. He was also the one who started dancing after jumping to make the crowd go crazy in contests where they got the scoring gotten from the noise the crowd did

He did say in interviews that at first, backflips scared him and thought at the time that riders were going too far and the backflip wasn't worth the risk. He tried it so and hurt himself quite badly if I remember well.

And yes, Edgar was (and still is apparently) a amazing MX/SX rider. One of the best european SX riders from late 90's on his 125. He won 3 races at Bercy in 98 but Nick Wey took the Prince of Bercy title (4 wins).

"but to be honest, his tricks and style were way ahead of the time when FMX got big." I second that. They're some guys out there throwing some serious tricks, but Edgar has only to throw his one leg whips (the ones that Hansen, Wilson or recently Bogle like to throw) to kill them all. Dude has sick style and personnality. He is just... E.T. ...

Back in 03 at Bercy, he won the saturday night FMX contest and had to run over straight from that to his SX bike that was already waiting for him at the starting line, 30 seconds later holeshot and won the main event! pretty sweet. Back when they still did 125/250 classes

Heck Pat! Thanks for this link!

Edgar Torronteras has never retired from FMX. He stopped racing in 2002 after signing with Yamaha.

In 2003 switched to KTM:

In 2005-2006 rode Hondas painted in pink on his shows, and was sponsored by Burn Energy Drinks. It was those years when he performed his backflip skills.

In 2008 returned to Yamaha:

And nowadays is sponsored by Monster Energy:

If you want to see him racing, let's go back to 2000:

if you watch older FMX compared to the guys today, you will see that the style of the riders has progressed substantially..and im not talking about flips.

Edgars big whips and tweaked out stretched style were way different in the early 2000s'...now, not so much.

He was def one of the first Euro's to be big into FMX and I think FMX is alittle big bigger there now because of him.

Australia has the biggest freestyle community though IMO...

Inside his truck has oakley logos, but his bike has von zipper? Isn't that a sponsorship no no?
