My first ride was a pullstart Taco-type from Montgomery wards. Slid it sideways in the grass under a chain link fence and got stuck there until my friend's dad came home and extricated me (fortunately it was only a short time).

Found a picture of one kind of like it. Somehow it seemed so much cooler to my 9 year old mind.
Did the chain fall off every time ya leaned it over spun it in circles?Smile

Mine was a Rupp minibike. I was 5 and wanted a bike so bad but my dad didn't want his yard destroyed. My dad had a business partner that would stop by our house and he knew how bad I wanted a bike. His son had out grew the bike he had bought him so he brings it to my dad and tells him that it's not running right. My dad checks it out and there's nothing wrong with it. Needless to say I had to take it for a ride. After about 2 weeks of me tearing up the grass my dad calls the guy and tells him to please come get the bike. He shows up and tells me to ride it for him so I make a few laps around the yard. Then he stops me and says" it's yours" talk about one happy kid! My dad never had any grass from then on. It's been 40 years since I got that bike and i've never been without one.

On a PW80.. It was a soggy, damp day and I just rode it around a flat field. Kind of absurd how clearly I can picture it and remember the feeling. Also, remember first time hitting power band on a KX80. The guy that was teaching me to ride hyped up the 'power band' so much it freaked us out a bit. Prob cause he didn't want kids looping out on his bikes... anyways, when I finally got to hit the power band it felt like Hans Solo had just hit the hyperdrive switch on the Millennium Falcon! haha. Can picture that so vividly too. Good stuff.

That's my second Star Wars reference in two posts. hah!

I was 11 yrs. old in '71 when the rents got my younger brother and myself a McCory Otasco (a southwest chain of stores in Oklahoma) a 31/2 hp. minibike. We flogged the piss out of that thing. On a side note, how many remember oggling the Sears, Montgomery Wards catalogues at christmas time dreaming and wishing for those minibikes?

When I was a kid my family would go desert riding out by California City. This was my first bike. The first time I rode my dad started it up, put me on it, gave me a little push to get going, and after I rode around for a little bit i came into the camp and hit my dad's friends camping trailer in 3rd gear because nobody taught me how to stop.

Spent many a weekend on my BMX bike camping at 'Butterfield county" in Temecula following around any Mini enduro I could spot. God I wanted one of those...

Anyways, my childhood first was a Mini trail. A little over a year ago I finished this. And yeah, I ride it around the neighborhood!

First bike, first day, first ride... My Dad took it for a test run before I rode it... he dumped it over turning in some gravel and tore a hole in his brand new leather jacket... so it was primed for me to go ahead and drop it whenever...

That little KD100 took a lickin' and kept on kickin'!!

My first RIDE was in front of my oldest brother Jason on his RM125, holding on to the bars as he hauled ass across the desert, screamin my lil ass off. I was 4 then, and told my dad i never wanted a dirtbike after that. 7 months later and 5 1/2 i had this under the Christmas tree. Never looked back since. Thats our Dad and Kyle standing next to me.

'74 or' 75 Los Angeles river. If anyone on here has seen the LA river it is about 40 feet down a steep grades with concrete and rocks all the way on each side all the way of the river. My older brothers 6-8years older than me gave me rides on their 73 125 elsinore and 74xr75 done up with trick parts at the time. They let me go on the 75 .I went down one side, crossed the river(slimy shit)and back up the other side.I was halfway home 5 miles before they chased me down. The re was a place called the "DUMP" off Imperial HWY,they used to ride at.Wish I had some pictures.Hooked ever since.
