Hey guys,
Ive been designing a few t-shirts(that are my own work and not copies of anything) and im trying to come up with a good name for the brand. The clothing is mostly for action sports like motocross,bmx,etc.. Im just not the best with coming up with good names to use. I have a few designs that ive done up but I need to come up with a name so that I can create a logo and include them into the designs I have done. If anyone had any info I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Eric

Eric, best to take the time and come up with your own company name. This will save you a lot of headaches from legal ownership and trademark issues down the road. If someone comes up with a cool name for you and you become successful in your endeavor then the person may be entitled to partial rights of the company name. I would strongly recommend subscribing to Transworld Business 'cause they have a shitload of useful info on the actionsports industry - What's in and what's not, connections with manufacturers, who's buying out who, legal matters and so much more. Well worth the money! Best of luck on your business endeavor man!

Names are hard to secure and tough to be individual these days as tons of new brands are trademarked every day.
Come up with something relevant, original, not copied, or similar to an existing one, etc... Like Dirtjet said, take your time and do some research before you get a letter of cease and desist from someone.
Dirtjet is actually a cool name... LOL.

That is why I think ONE Industries added the "Industries" part. There was already a company called ONE.

About your name, its hard to suggest without seeing your work, your style, your "message".

OT: I see you're from Butler. My family is from there. I rode at Switchback back in 2003(?) for their first race ever. You might know some of my friends also. Zane, Jeff, Clint, etc.

I live about 5 minutes from switchback actually. I know zane and I was in school with Clint but I never talked to them but I talk to Jeff all the time and hes given me a few tips for riding.

I can post a few of the designs that I have started but they arent completely finished because I need to put a logo in them still.

I always thought a good name would be something like "crap," especially for a bands CD's

Crap
More Crap
Better Crap
An Awesome Crap
and followed up with "Our Favorite Crap" and "Our Greatest Crap"

The photos have to already be on the internet somewhere. When you click the photo link on Vital, you need to fill in the URL of the picture in the little box that comes up.

If you don't have an online photo storage site already, you can get one from photobucket.com or plenty of other places. Photobucket makes posting pictures easy by providing the img file so that you can paste it directly into the body of your post without using the photo link.

"Swell-on", now there's a good company name. Swell-on shirts will run 2 sizes too small and come with the sleeves carefully pre-removed to make it look like they were torn off in a 'roid induced rage. What the shirts lack in size and sleeves will be made be made up for with bling, lots of icy chill bling, bro. Pants will come with the sock pre-installed in the front, of course.

Here are some designs that I have done and they arent completely finished because I still need a logo to incorporate with them. Also the colors I have are just some that I picked they arent set in stone. I just tend to like the brighter colors that stand out more.

Selecting a brand name is the most important thing you will do, don't take this personal but if you can't do it on your own you probably have no business starting a business in the first place. To me the best clothing/accessory names have nothing to do with anything, they are cool because the company made them cool. ie: Volcom, Oakley, Fox, FMF, Nixon................. in fact I think it was Chad from Nixon who I read somewhere that said they picked Nixon because it would have a negative vibe to the parents of their target demographic but mean nothing to them. Brilliant thought process.

A long time ago there was company in Ramona, Ca. making BMX pads called Gates.I stayed at their house one time and asked them where it came from because I thought it was a cool name. He picked up a phone book and randomly pointed until he found something he liked. I've done that at least a dozen times over the years for myself and a few friends(yeah, maybe they shouldn't have been in business).

Do yourself a favor and forget about the words Moto or Rad.

Good luck.

Oh, and make sure you can get the .com url before before you chose a name. Nothing looks worse than .net or .biz.

Just asking, but...

Is it mandatory that every t-shirt design (and we've seen three or four over the last week) have a skull in front of crossed piston/rods?

How about an homage to Danny Dolan and just call it "Skullz and Flames?"

no its not mandatory but I design different things and just because you dont like it doesnt mean that others wont like it. I know that people wont like the things I have and some people will. I just think that the piston looks good the way it is thats why I did it like that
