Overall, it was an excellent interview. I think James is one of, if not the, most well spoken and marketable racers out there. It is too bad he feels afraid to give his views in interviews more often.

The part I have an issue with is Matthes taking thinly veiled jabs at Dungey. Maybe because I am an RD fan I see things that aren't there but it seems to me he minimizes RD's accomplishments nearly any time his name is brought up.

In fact, when asking Stewart how he thought he would match up against the sport's current greats, Steve mentioned all but Dungey as being in that group. To Stewart's credit, the first person he mentioned as a real threat was Dungey. Stew then said RV was beating Dungey in SX so he knew the pace was high.

Steve also, for the umpteenth time, minimized RD's championships in 2010. He basically inferred that they meant less because the "best guys" weren't there. Really? I thought they all had the chance to be there. Dungey must feel really bad about winning it all that year, being it was his fault the other riders got hurt, pussed out, or just couldn't ride his pace.

As mentioned above, he loves to bash Vital as "a bunch of idiots" but he continues to post here, including spamming his work to further his interests.

Generally I like Matthes interviews but to me he can't land all the riders he should because of things like I mentioned above. I doubt he'll get a serious RD, RC, Hansen etc. interview because of the way he likes to minimize what they've done.

"Also too. Anyways" = annoying

Rant over.

Same old, same old. Some people you just can't make happy. There weren't enough words in the dictionary for me to talk about how great RD was in 2010. He was amazing but the question remains- how would he have done if JS and CR were there? Like it or not, it's there. Reed's got to deal with the same thing- his two titles indoors came w first RC & then JS hurt. Although I think those questions were made a little quieter with his rides this year.

Sorry for letting you down. And there are plenty of other media people that RC and Hanny will talk to so that you can get your info from them.
Steve,
Then we can easily argue that Dungey should have won both series in 2011 if not for a chain derailment and an empty gas tank. No one was as consistent as Dungey, especially after being so far down in the points in both series. So to suggest that his success in 2010 was due to others not being there is not entirely accurate. He acquitted himself quite well in 2011 and proved why he was so good in 2010.

I'm not making excuses for anyone. Setting up a suspension for SX is totally different than setting up a suspension for the outdoors. That is also a fact.

If seeing where the sport is going and acknowledging that a team has a unique vision means I am 'up their skirt' then so be it. I can accept that. Your approval - or lack thereof - does not affect the amount of sleep I get at night. But I am glad to see that you are passionate about motocross. It is that passion that drives the sport forward and reminds me that we love the greatest sport on the planet.
You have lost any credibility you might have thought you had.
All the factory teams have completely private test tracks.

Did you really just post a link to a forum discussion with people looking up coordinates on Google Maps and speculating about which tracks belong to which teams? Not to mention a post in that forum stating Honda rented out a track?

Like I said - I love your passion! Hope to see you at the races!

The Suzuki and Honda test tracks, as well as the Yamaha and KTM tracks are all located on the same road. You cannot access the Honda or Suzuki tracks without a key, so yes they are private. The public is not allowed. Honda doesn't own the property, but what difference does that make?

Also, other teams have suspension dynos, and get this, telemetry available to them.

Not only can we, but we do! The essence of bench racing, lol

The trick is knowing when everyone's said everything there is to say three times and moving on without someone's "last word" starting the fourth round.

J-Bone said from the very beginning Stewart has an out in the contract so he doesn't have to race outdoors. Their main concern is he wins the SX title. But if he's happy with the bike and his racing, he'll go outdoors. I wouldn't read too much into the whole deal, it was a gimmick to get Stewart to sign. It was coming down to the wire and JGR had no real backup plan if Stewart slipped away. They had allowed Brayton and Muscle Milk to leave because they wanted James more.

I hope James makes that program look good. We need more teams like JGR, and if he's successful it's good for all.
I remember seeing a video a while back where Stewart said he would race the the outdoors in 2012,even if he had to do it out of a box van. Anyone else remember that? I'm not a Stewart fan but I really hope he does the nationals next year.

Yeah, I remember that too. James also tweeted something about watching the Master's, or some other sporting event, at the outdoor nationals next year.
In the past, I've always given him the benefit of the doubt in what he has said in regards to racing the outdoors, but he really disappointed me this past year. I wish he would've just been honest to his fans. I think the whole L&M deal was originally why he didn't race outdoors. He knows what his obligations are/were, but he tried to tell everyone else what he was going to do.
Anyways, I'm glad he's back racing. Although, I think I'll being rooting for #5 a little more than #7 this year.

Just saying BTW no one in the world has a dyno that has the potential to travel 6 meters in 1 second with such amazing computer resolution , JGR can tell if ONE shim is out of spec or worn out... No one can build suspension as precise as JGR, period.
