Good luck! Charlie doesn't give an inch- I know from experience. Good rider & good dude- you would never know what he did for a living if someone didn't tell you.

Just make sure your tags on the truck and trailer are up to date and you don't have a busted headlight.
His crew might be waiting for you with the ticket book ready when you leave the track :-)

I've played hockey with a lot of cops.

They play hard. Too hard to whine like they do when you do it back.

From page 78 -

"
You and Marty ( Beck's son ) are both racing two-strokes. Why?

I think the factories have made the sport too expensive by going to the four-stroke engines. The 450s cost too much to race for most people. Two-strokes are much cheaper to buy, easier to maintain and quieter. When you go trail riding, you can hear the four-stroke exhaust for miles. The sound just carries forever.
"

AWESOME! Clearly, a very intelligent person.

Words of wisdom from the chief.

Steve, great job on the article.

Good to see him getting some exposure in our sport.

I've had the pleasure of hanging out with Cheif Beck several times and can honestly say he is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet....and a die hard moto guy!

I still think it's funny when I see him giving an interview on the news. I forget that he's in such a huge position of power because he shows none of that when you're sitting with him just shooting the shit. If you ever see him at the track or the races and have the chance to talk to him or just say hi, definitey do it. You'll see first hand what a good guy he is.

Great article. I wish Charlie Beck would give the CR500 and KX500 a position in the scared straight program.

I've known Charlie Beck and a lot of other LAPD officers for years. I was their contact when I worked at FMF, so I got to know a lot of those guys pretty well and they were all really good guys.
