RC still rides, and like I said I was hoping.

It is definitely Dungey though...Race just got a lot better.

I wonder what changed their minds...?
I personally hate last minute decision type stuff...but it will be great for the event. Smile

Remember when RC first went to Suzuki and raced the open with very little testing, it gave him a good sense of what to work on moving forward.

Dungey racing wouldn't suprise me. He is such a competitor and will do whatever it takes.

Unlike another well known rider in the sportWink

Say it's Dungey. If he loses will everyone immediately start with the "he's washed up, and the bike sucks", or if he wins what will everyone do then?

Dungey may just want a 'practice race' under their belt before the season starts... to work out any bugs with the bike under race conditions. What better way to get it than at the MEC.

Any chance RD is being paid some show-up money, to hopfully avoid paying out a Mill to RV ? It would make the "show" better and be cheaper if they swapped wins.

I know it's grassy knoll theroy... Swing away, I can take it.

Possible, but given RD is a Red Bull rider I doubt it. Not only is his team Red Bull but it's a personal sponsor also so I don't see Monster throwing his money, but you never know. Probably feels confident on the bike and it's a chance to get some good "practice".

It was probably the plan the whole time IF they got to a decent comfort level. They didn't want to say it was a possibility before in case it didn't work out. Then everyone would pile on about the bike sucks for him etc etc etc. If he is in and isn't on pace with RV fine. Everyone just role with it as we will get to see some great 2012 RD and KTM testing live with more real top speed in the race itself. I hope he is in.

I also have a hard time believing Dungey's first time on the bike was the first Monday in October. This bike has been put together for a while and he has probably been on it prior to October.

MC still races from time to time....think he did an over seas SX last season (2010).
He was still going pretty good as far as lap times went from my memory....but crashed out/got taken out in the main.
His style is still great and he has some speed also...but the intensity & speed you see with the top AMA guys like RV,Reed,JS7,Dungey,Canard or even Windham doesn't seem to be there at those over sea events. However there were some American riders there that always make SX mains.

RC,last time I heard him & Dungey riding together at his place last year or so...he was giving Ryan a fit. Smile
Not sure where he would be at a year later or so physically or speed wise, though.

Their both legends.....
So to answer your question....some guys are just fans and would like to like to see them ride in a race atmosphere as sort of a novelty I would assume. I dont think they would struggle making the main at an event like this. But as far as their main events results went....god only knows. 3 10-lap mains...

KTM have a rider on a 2 stroke, not sure who the rider is?

What makes you say that....
It comes from a very good source and also it wasn't the first time on the bike.... He would never sign without riding the bike first. which he did a couple months ago. again from a very good source.....

Yeah...I think people often forget how talented & fast some of those top retired guys are/were.
Kinda off topic or not the same scenario...but the guy that always amazes me every year at the Wick is Dowd!
The guy still pulls TOP-10's there at a national in the premier class against guys half his age!
And he is retired from Pro racing for the most part and in his 40's. Smile
It's neat to see.

Yes. After a perfect outdoor season. It was his first race with Suzuki and he had a mechanical DNF one night. Just imagine the KTM haters if that happened to Dungey.

I hope he shows up. I would love to see him on the new bike.

The KTM haters will say it sucks, RD will kiss his hottie girlie, go back to work, and cash his first paycheck. Life goes on.

Agree on Dowd. Also, everybody is bagging on RC for the weight gain. Guess what, he is still RC and i'm sure has the same abilities on a bike he had before the weight. It isn't like he gained 100lbs. Still the G.O.A.T. Stil a BAMF.

speedwise im sure they both still have it...entensity and endurance???

im not knocking these guys at all..but i think when you stop training/riding everyday you probably lose "some of it"
