Looks like it's a pretty clean bike, switch out those handlebars with a better bend and it looks pretty good. Motocross is the most satisfying "drug" there is, and it's definitely better than drinking. I recommend getting a bike and just getting back into it and loving to ride, then when the new KTM goes out, if it's what you are interested in, buy it.
What's wrong with that bend? I am 6'2" and run CR high bend, those look like they might be close or a little shorter than that though.

I thought a person could still use the clutch when they have a rekluse? I would not want a bike without a clutch lever. Weird.

Also, I think you need to lower the front brake lever. Looks way too high to me. Wink LOL

Looks like all she needs is a CR500 motor and a little bit of frame modification.Wink

Im looking at getting me another bike. I have been out of racing for around 5 years now, and I have nearly drank myself to death. The only way I can see to get back in control of my life is to get back to what I did for 21 years before I quit.

Im probably gonna start with a used bike, and maybe when the fuel injected KTM comes out, buy one of those.

Anyways, point being, I went and looked at this bike the other night. The guy that has it is the second owner, is 43 and a chiropractor. He says the guy he bought it from is a friend, also mid 40s and a chiropractor.

The thing that freaks me out/ worries me about this bike is that the plastic (at least up top) is fantastic, but the engine cases sure are missing alot of paint. The kickstarter, brake and shift levers and all that seemed to be pretty tight, but those cases really worry me!

I wondered if he did the old trick of saving the OEM plastic for resale, and I asked him if THIS plastic had been on this bike the whole time, and he said it had. What do you guys think?

Also, the bike has a Rekluse, that is why there is no clutch lever.

Another point of interest is that he said the local Honda shop had done all the maintenance since the bike was new. Can I give them the VIN and find out if this is actually the case?

HEY BRO! Long time no see! Hope you are doing good man... I know Mike's death caused me to re-evaluate a lot of things in my life and I'm better of now for having done that.

I know that racing is definitely a step in the right direction for getting yourself back in order, and also that bike is definitely a great one!...especially if it is an '08.

Best of luck Wolfie!

The CR High bend is actually a short bar and it also has a lot of sweep. It's the last bar I would recommend for someone over 6' tall.

The Renthal 971 that comes stock on the CRF's is actually a much better bend for most people. It's taller and has less sweep.

I been running them a couple years and really like them. Definitely taller than the stock renthal bars on my 07 CR250 with similar amount of sweep. I do run my bars a little bit forward.
I'm just not sure why he said to pick a better bend just from those pictures? Maybe they will fit good maybe they won't.

CR Highs are 4mm shorter and have 8mm more sweep than the stock Renthal 971's. They are an old fashioned bend that isn't tall and has too much sweep for a tall rider, but if you like them, that's all that matters.

"Old fashioned bend" no wonder I like them, that sounds like my body.....lol I don't know without measuring everything but when I hold them next to each other the cr high bend are probably a half inch higher at the grips, must have some thing to do with the extra bit of sweep and me having them a little bit forward. They probably don't look right to someone else but I like them and feel more comfortable to me. I had a hard time picking those bars I know that much. In the pictures of the crf I am just not sure how someone could decide if those are a good bend for someone else or not, that was really all I was getting at.
I think the CRF in the pictures shows signs of normal wear and tear but looks clean and not overly abused.

At 6'-2" you would probably like the RC High Renthals. They are 20mm taller than the 971's with the same minimal 54mm sweep. If you roll them a bit forward, they don't end up with the bar ends pointing up like a bar with a lot of sweep. The RC High is the best tall guy bar bend on the market.

Thanks for the tip, I will keep that in mind.
You get looking through all those dimensions and it starts getting aggravating.

Don´t buy those arc levers, stock levers lasted longer for me..!

BTW bike looks really good.
Don´t worry about the paint on the engine cases, my bike looked like that after 5 hours!

I got a 450 thinking that its going to be the final bump I needed to achieve my goals. Funny thing is, it increased my speed slightly, but took all the fun out of riding a mx bike. I loved riding the bike and getting all that I could out of it each night that I rode. When I switched all the jumps were too easy and it just became complacent.

That looks like an excellent bike and I agree that the cases will look that way after 1 ride( i've owned a 04 cr250, 04 crf250 & 09 crf450).
i hear you on that one i rode a 450 for awhile on saturday and to me that motor just felt dead. i knew there was the power but it felt like nothing at the same time. does anyone else feel this on them?
