I question Tony's method's in this video - not even close to properly mentoring your son.
The Shop
DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
IMO, of course.
Strait up - total cave man method of working with the rider!
Training Mike is Tony's life that would be a crushing blow for a son to have to deliver to his father.
akmx, to counter that point I'd say it's already been done. Mike told his father to go sit on the couch last year. Tony didn't go to some of the races at all during the 350 campaign. It was Mike's decision to both kick him to the curb bring him back.
His wife leaching off him? just a thought but maybe He actually wants her around. It is called a relationship
I absolutely believe that Tony is a big part of their successes too, but he may also be a liability in some business dealings. I don't think Tony is a bad guy at all; he just has his way of doing things.
I wonder what Tony will do after Mike's career is over; I'm not sure what actually makes up Alessi Racing outside of Mike & Jeff.
Pit Row
But just judging by the concerned she had for Mike in the video when she told Tony "What do you expect?", I have to say she seems just fine.
If I had enough money where my job consisted of traveling a lot putting my body through the wringer every day I would want my girl there too. Does that make her a leecher?
That being said... the whole anti-tony thing is getting a bit tired.... Mike hired him this past year and is paying him a salary from what I understand so maybe everyone should just let it go!
By the sounds of it Mikes was expected to do fast laps 3rd lap out. If I went to the gym in the morning after a flight I would feel like toast as well. Sometimes I need 10-20 slow laps to build into my speed.
I have had days on the bike where you hate the bike and the track.
Some days you just feel weak and you ride like crap big deal just have a fun day and next time on the bike you get your grove on.
He is under way too much pressure.
Tony should let Mike ride without the clock for awhile
I don't get the "I" aspect of Tony and his way of pushing Mike the WRONG way at the WRONG time. "I" this and "I" that. That is ALL very telling.
Hey, Tony..."How" does Roger talk to Ryan? "When" is the RIGHT time to PUSH your rider and WHEN is the Right time to let your rider jus' get some laps in and get A FEEL FOR HOW HE'S "FEELING"? (Especially when he's re-habing an Injury).
Case in point: Give him crap about his speed on a practice day when he's traveled and trained in the gym and...Voila: He's hits the ground hard enough to do more damage.
Oh, well. I;m still prayin' that Mike get's a good ride, has a Great Race at Vegas and that Tony can see his way clear to a better program and a better understanding of the mental and emotional side of his son(s).
I'd like to see them all jus' have some "fun" for a change.
