In my college English class i need to write an 8 to 10 page paper. I'm planning on writing it about the evolution of motocross bikes and was wondering if you guys know of any good websites or places with info?

How about the de-evolution of motocross, as in four strokes.

This is a really good book that details the sport as well as the machines through the years. A good angle would be how motocross machines have come full circle starting with 4 strokes, going to 2 strokes, and returning to 4 strokes.

sorry tried to post a pic of the book but it didnt work. The book is called Motocross America, by Bill Amick.

Base it on about 1972 to 1982. Major changes.

Smile No need to bring food or drink, always got plenty here.

Evolution of motocross......hmmmm. Funny how it went from big heavy 4 strokes to lightweight nimble 2 strokes and back to big heavy 4 strokes.LOL Okay, I'll lay off the 4 stroke jokes for a bit but seriously you need to mention the Rickmann brothers, Don and Derek. Back when there wasn't a purpose built motocross bikes they built them. Still to this day some of the most beautiful works of art in all of motocross. They built a rolling chassis that would accept different engines from the 60's on into the early/mid 70's. Europe ruled with the bikes and the racers until the Japanese mfgs. came onto the scene in the early 70's. That was the beginning of the end for nearly every other brand and there were a bunch. There were so many sweet bikes throughout the 70's and things were changing at a rapid pace. Good luck with the paper!

Great book by a great guy. Many years worth of VMX Magazine bike shoots compressed into that book, a must have for moto enthusiasts! Ray Ryan started VMX Magazine in Australia. I had a few good email exchanges with him over the years before he passed away from his battle with cancer. VMX comes out quarterly and I always end up forgetting to renew my sub. Always have to catch up on the missed issues when I renew! Note to self.....renew VMX tomorrow....

It's sad that most people dont realize that most college professors are total boobs who couldnt hack it in the real world

this does not apply to professors who teach science and engineering..but for everything else..yeah...total fuck tards.

I didnt mean to Derail this thread but it looks like its going that way.

OP, in all seriousness, i wouldn't worry about the content, just make sure all your grammar is correct and the paper is formatted correctly and concisely.

The T.A will probably read through the first 2-3 pages then skip to the last one then grade it.

Since you have essentially hijacked the thread at this point, why don't you tell us why you seem to be so well qualified to make these statements there MXpunk. Are you the Dean of a faculty perhaps?

One of my best buddies, Kim Houde, won the 1979 CMA (Canadian) 125 cc National Championship on that thing! 23" front wheel and all!
