Agreed. It's too bad we have a shit ton of dumbasses in our country who would rather rob, steal, kill, sell drugs, and reap the benefits of a broken welfare system than to get off their lazy ass and further their education so they could actually benefit themselves and the community. I'm glad he was smart enough to arm himself and protect his business.

I am certainly no "gun lover", but what a man! Good for him, he did what he had to do. However, very few people would have survived, shows what preparation can do. If I were in his shoes I would be well armed too.

As someone above mentioned, it's all about preparation. Every time I teach someone about gun safety and how to shoot, the very last thing I tell them is that if they decide to own a gun they need to train and practice. Even if it's only for your home and not for every day carry. It's such a huge responsibility. For example, both my wife and I carry and we go to the range almost weekly to practice so that it becomes like muscle memory. It's equally as important if you only have it for home. I have 2 small kids, if my house alarm goes off at 3 a.m. I don't want to guess who is where so my wife knows to grab the kids, her gun out of the safe and go into my daughters closet to call 911. It might sound over the top but what if she is freaking out running around the hallway or what if I have to shoot in a certain direction but I don't know where my family is. Owning a gun and not taking measures similar to these is why most accidents happen. The rest can be attributed to terrible and unsafe storage practices.

One last thing, always train and practice but remember that the use of this force should always be the LAST line of defense. No piece of personal property is worth the legal battle you might have to fight to justify your actions. If someone breaks into my house, I'll just sit atop my stairway and wait for them to leave, as long as my family is safe. For all I know, if I run down my stairs like maniac, I could be running into an ambush of 5 guys. Better safe than sorry. Brains over bravery I guess. They can have my TV if it means that much. However, once they put one foot on the first
step leading to the bedrooms.........

These are all things that are so unlikely to happen but if they did, you might not know how to react and the consequences could be real bad. Bad enough that even though it seems a bit over the top to consider it all, you should anyway because you never know.

This happened not too far from where I live. Readers digest version. 4 teenagers decided they wanted to know what it was like to kill someone so they randomly picked a house, broke in at 3 am and butchered a mother to death while she lay in bed with her 12 year old daughter. Then they butchered the daughter but she lived. The husband was out of town on business.
