I actually agree with you, Lap times dont lie. Everyone thought 2011 was close in points, I think 2012 will be even closer. Cant wait for Canard to be healthy again, he was sooooooo fast in Jacksonville and Houston last year. I do however wonder if the yamaha is harder to setup up than the Zook! Or is that just an excuse, lord knows he is full of them lately

I am a big Stewart fan!! I think he has the most raw speed of anyone. We are all talking about him and his sponsors. No wonder its taking so long to sign his contract!

The Monster Cup should be viewed as a local race for James. You don't need a team or a big semi. This is during silly season and apparently he's shopping for a ride. How much does it cost to show up and race just like the old days? And we know James has got the money.

To the topic of the thread I hope he gets his stuff straight soon. I want to see James race as much as the next person. But the more I hear about his false commitments (he seems to make every year) the more I want to see him sit on the sidelines.

Yep,in 99 he did it on a Yamaha after Kawi dropped him.
He was basically a privateer with just a few sponsors at the USOpen that year.

But I think for James,things might be a little more complicated then that.
Who knows what the hell he has in the works for 2012 and what has been finalized and what hasn't been.
I think all these big personal contracts that some riders have these days that over lap their
actual race team/brand contracts makes things a little more complicated then what it was back
in the 70's,80's & 1990's.The personal sponsors he has like Red Bull,Answer,Oakley pay him tons of money I would assume.

They obviously dont want to bend and switch brands just for Stewy and also James is a Red Bull guy and JGR is muscle Milk, so there is a possible conflict right there also.

Or even a rider contract for little AM teams like Team green?
Or even a personal sponsor contract?

All 3 can be quite complicated and restrict riders from doing certain things all the way down to apparel they wear.
Most guys aren't even allowed to race locally etc... or even jump on a Jet Ski or tractor made by a different manufacture while they are under contract.
Personal sponsor contracts also have clauses like that in them at times.
When James even gets in one of those trucks like he raced a couple weeks back,I'm pretty sure Red Bull has to be involved. Also I believe Red Bull set that whole thing up for him (prolly was their doing from the start).
I dont think James can just show up and race a 'Special Monster' event without Red Bulls approval either. Wink

I seen a long time 80cc Team Green rider get kicked off of TG for simply spinning a lap after a local race on a CR125.
Another long time TG member ratted him out quickly.
And the race had nothing to do with his contract....or the AMA amateur events he was contracted to race for TG.

There are many incidents that have happened over the years...
MC on the Kawi Jet Ski during the off season is another one. Wink

This is a business and a very serious business at that.

Stewart will be on a suzuki Dungey's bikes were delevered to him already.Suzuki may keep him at Yosh instead of Joe Gibbs.
