Some days I think I need to get a 125 just to remember how to carry corner speed...450 makes me lazy..lol
Then reality kicks me and I realize a 125 at Cycle Ranch and my 195 pounds just dont mix...

You are right corner speed is so important on smokers, but it is harder than ever to have corner speed these days. At every track i've been to this year the corners are so square becasue the 4 strokes don't need it. They just leave it in 3rd, pinch and square the corner and grab a hand full of fart machine throttle. To hit these turns on smokers it takes more clutching it than it ever did.

I noticed the same thing. Often you have to make your own ruts and hope that no 4stroke destroy it!
Or you can come from the outside and just hit the last half of the rut, this works decent on sand tracks

Start gassing and leaning over before the rut or berm to get the rear wheel sliding into the berm, and then just hold on.

tell me about it, corners used to be more fun when I could rail them instead of concentrating/clutching to stay in the damn 4stroke ruts aha
