Since Suzuki is pulling the plug on their factory race efforts what's the word on their amateur support program? Are they still going to provide bikes and support to the up-and-comers? What about the amateur contigency program? I'm just wondering how the withdraw at the highest level is going to trickle down. We haven't heard much about how the lower program is going to be effected.

They still were supporting many amateurs through the Rockstar Suzuki program so will be interesting to see what the trickle down affect is. Hopefully they still continue that support.

I knew they were giving support to the rockstar suzuki team which did alot for some of their best amateur riders. I don't think they were getting factory-type equipment but there still had to be incentives for running suzukis.

Jeremy still thanks extreme rockstar in this interview done at Sunset last weekend. but who knows what's about to happen.
we talked to him a bit up there at Walnut and he seemed up in the air with what his plans were for next year. with the economy still in the shitter things will continue to demise.

how is D doing

Brady just started to ride last week some, not ready for any races as he was out 3 months

I heard they withdrew unexpectedly because their market share got soft. But they said that almost never happens...

Suzuki support is still at the races just like Team Green, Honda & Yamaha sent the Am support out for their large dealers to run a few years ago. Unless Suzuki follow suite the Am program will keep going.

My guess is with the expense of the Suzuki Pro team moving out of house to Yoshimira the amateur program will get a financial boost.

I'm surprised you are all surprised really, I've been hearing this for years how the factories will eventually not be a factory effort with their own teams. The time I can remember hearing this was at a road race up at Laguna Seca, people were talking about how the factories (motocross part) would be like road racing and have satellite teams, several teams over just one factory team. Yamaha's been without one, so it's just a matter of time.

Yea, I purchased my own home with a nice garage so i'm trying to step up my service support. I've been charging $25 an hour, but maybe we could get something worked out for sponsorhip for your boys if they are planning on racing alot next year. I'm looking to sponsor a handful of riders for next year in way of service, technical, and tuning support. Maybe some decals on the bikes in exhange for a good discount on any service work you guys need done.

I'm also going to be doing winter specials this year which includes stripping the bike down to bare frame and rebuilding from there. All parts will be cleaned, greased, inspected. Everything torqued back to mfg setting. Labor price will be REALLY affordable.

Talk to me sunday at the race, i'll be out there!

Suzuki still offers Amateur support through the dealer, I've hooked up a couple of my guys with Parts credits etc... Whether it is continued or not is uncertain.

Suzuki, in the past, was the best company to offer support while being the smallest company out there. It earned my respect and still has it.

Yamaha has a little dealer support as well.

By the way, my dirt bike sales are up over 700%! I'm selling a ton of bikes....

Sondy, remember the video game companies?? (EA, THQ) You still have shirts that say EA Sports Supercross I bet! lol I do!

We thought we'd be done after they left too. Pharmaceutical companies should be next, they have deeeep pockets.

What if I told you that even without Rockstar and Makita around, that there's already budget for 2012 for Metcalfe, the rig, etc?

Suzuki had a Chad Reed style insurance policy with LLoyds of London this past year, netting them a million dollars per mechanical DNF. So... their budget's all set.

I'd respond to this, but I think by doing so, I'd lower my IQ another two points.

So, would they be willing to run the rig for only one rider? Or, do they have someone else in mind to add to the team?

I think this will effect all the programs of the Suzuki racing program. I just hope they continue to build and sell motorcycles. I feel the Suzuki motorcycle is one of the best dirt bikes made. Not reliability wise, but performance. I rode my buddies bike the other day and was blown away on how good the thing was. Maybe time to switch brands?

Then that would be great, but I don't see that happening. They would probably come out finiancially better to pay Metcalfe's contract out early and let him sign elswhere. I would think the cost of doing the series with just one rider, who probably won't be competing for a win every weekend, would be too high.

Imo, I would rather see the Suzuki factory effort dissolve for 2 or 3 years and then come back strong in full force with 2 or 3 riders when they get their finances straightened out. If they kept going they are just going to continue to drive their debts into the ground until Suzuki will no longer see the need for a factory race squad and then may never return to racing at a factory effort.
