Ok so here is the problem...the bike down shifts fine. It shifts up to second gear no problem, but then when i shift up into third the shift lever stays up engaged and wont come back down for me to get into 4th gear. If I carefully place it back down it will shift up again without a problem to 4th and 5th gear. What do you guys think the problem between 2nd and 3rd would be? Thanks!

x2.

It sounds like there might be a problem with the detentor catching inside the shift drum. Make sure there aren't any burs and the that springs are properly applying pressure to the small plates.

If you won't see anything wrong with the shift detentor, something is wrong inside the cases with the shifting forks or the shifting drum.
