Seriously, I've heard people mention that we do so well because of how big the US is. You know what.....Germany has 1/3 the population in 1/50th of the size of our country.....Russia has more people....China has more people....Brazil has nearly as many.....so why all the god damned excuses? Just because American MXer's are born n bread to rip n shred....Look what the US mx scene has done for so many....Rattray....Roczen...Musquin...Swanepoel.....they are all faster now from racing here.....Wilson, Pourcel too...how much more exciting was the MXON this year because of all the international riders that have raced the US series now>?

as for this threads topic, if i understood it correctly, i wouldnt be against seeing us split up into four or five teams for the mxdn. like having a team for the west, midwest, south and northeast. it would make things much more fair. and to be honest, anyone who has traveled this country cant truthfully say that we are exactly one "culture". we're just about 20 different regions all joined at the hip by the same currency. our laws are different, language can differ quite a bit, and customs and whatnot are diverse enough to warrant multiple teams.
Russia, China LOL . . . . . and just how many russians or chinese race mx I wonder, probably about 20. . .
Per person I reckon that NZ would be the strongest mx country in the world, pop of only 4 mill and they have produced plenty of top riders over the past 10 years
One other way is to just leave it as it is. We only get to pick three riders. A place like Russia , Italy , France , Sweden and so forth.....they "should" be able to pick 3 smokin fast dudes as well. If you really think about it for a second......3 guys out of the entire population of each individual country isn't asking to much.
furthermore, us having multiple teams wouldnt hedge our bets but rather dilute our teams talent.
there is no way they could make a logical argument against us being split up by region. its not like we would be any more dominant.
it would have many positive effects. it would increase the odds of us losing. and it would split up our fanbase and create more fan driven hysteria.
i dont share any more in common with people from the south than i do with people from portugal. i would have no problem rooting for a "westcoast usa team" and rooting against a "northeast region usa team". like i said earlier, all we share in common is currency and to be honest, a dollar here isnt even worth the same as a dollar elsewhere so the argument could be made that we dont even share the same currency value.
U.S. kids are raised/taught that they are the best in the world, at everything, which is ridiculous. Whether or not this is true doesn't matter. what DOES matter is that they believe it when they line up.
mental mindset + most competitive amateur program in the world = guys like Bogle walking in and shitting on people, or heaven forbid, Dunget coming out of the friggin "B" class and doing what he's done.

But on the other had, how about the olympics?
the reason the concept of sending multiple teams is talked about is because if we want to compare apples to apples, we should take into consideration the size of our population and the talent pool we have to pull from. italy vs california vs florida is just more fair than usa vs italy.....there's no way of denying that. and like i said, as a born and raised californian, i share about as much in common with people from the south as i do with people from germany or any other european country.
we're just talking. im not saying that the mxdn format sucks or anything. it makes no difference to me. im just saying that i understand the euro's when they say that we have a unfair talent pool to pull from. and its not unfair simply cause we as americans are inherently better at mx. we simply have a much deeper pool of talent to pull from.
on another note, are you suggesting we only send 1 rider to represent our country? or 1 per class? i may be confused by what you are asking. we send three cause there used to be 3 major displacement sizes.
imo, it should be changed to 125cc, 250cc, and 450/500cc. that would be cool. but again, im just thinking out loud.
Euro (or Europe) is not every other country apart from the USA
Australia, New Zealand, Great Britian, Sth Africa, etc are NOT part of Europe
just so you know
As far as a single rider from each country. An individual rider from any country can come here and contend for the AMA title. I know it's not quite the same prize but it is the biggest individual award. I'm pretty sure Australia has put Chad Reed in an elite class of VIPs because he proved that Australia was home to the fastest motocross rider in the world every year that he won an AMA title. Chad is actually more popular to Australia's general population than any American champion would be outside of the MX community from what I understand.
Chad is hardly known outside motorcycle fans in Aust, the only thing people know is that some motorbiker riders get in the top sportsman money lists, but they wouldn't know the difference between Stoner or Reed, they just ride motorcycles.
There is and ocean between England and Europe (quite a narrow stretch of ocean).
Check out a map of the world one day mate!
